Cleaning out the house and it feels good!

It all started in my DD's room, then it started to spread. Today I finished cleaning out every room, closet, drawer and cupboard in the whole house. I have a pile to donate - it's not even going into the basement. I threw out a ton of stuff. The garbage men will love me tomorrow. :) Amazing what you can find in the back of your kitchen drawers!! I even painted a small book shelf that was badly in need of a fresh coat of paint. I spent almost 6 hours doing this today plus other stuff I had to do and I am just plain tuckered out right now.

Today at the store I bought a new computerized label maker. It's really cool and is so much fun! :D (Boy do I need a new hobby!!) It runs on battery and prints out the labels on tape. After I cleaned out all the small containers in my spare closet, I labeled them all. My DH was just rolling his eyes at me.

Tomorrow I will do the basement storage room - that is if I have any energy left. It won't be too bad but I want to label all the boxes and storage tubs so I know what's in them so I don't have to go through all of them for one thing.

After going through everything I have a better idea of what I have in the house. Plus I made more room and space for everything so I can use the things I had stuffed in the back of the closets and shelves. It feels good to have gotten rid of those things we never use any more.

I know why I have so much energy to do all this work. It's because I'm sick but it's only a head cold. Every time right before I get sick I go on a cleaning frenzy. Does this happen anyone else?

Whoa, Nellie! I hope you don't have to pay for your ambitious day tomorrow.

Wow! I wish I'd catch whatever it is you're coming down with, lol! I'll like a spurt of energy like that.

Come to think of it, I have gone into cleaning mode right before an illness a few times. Hope yours isn't serious or long-lasting, Karousel.

Thanks Twink - it's just a lousy head cold. But it got my house decluttered! I hope I won't pay for it tomorrow either.

Must be something in the air....I've been cleaning out closets and drawers, too! I think my reason is that my oldest son just moved out and I started with his room (cleaning and decluttering) and it just sort of morphed to other parts of the house. I'm planning on having a big garage sale in the next couple of months so I'm finding lots of things I can sell. I've been doing this for the past few days and it does feel so good to have a clean and organized house!

Wow, I hope it heads over to southern Indiana also. My DH is retiring Dec 1 and I hope to have the house clean by then so we can start out fresh and we can both keep it clean but I have some very bad habits to break first.

If ya'll still feel the urge when you're done, I can leave you my keys.:D

I did it earlier this year - the 2 attics, the basement, br's...

Took me a few days and I paid. But even all sore, I was content about it. You should have seen my yard sale! Whole front yard was so full it took 3 days and as soon as we sold some stuff, we were bringing more out.

And we took 2 trailers full to the dump, and a garage stall af goodies went to Salvation Army. (It's a big house, and boy did we pack it full!)

I still have thigs to get rid of. But it feels SO good. I have 2 empty closets! 2 painted bedrooms! Even painted my little corner cabinet in the front room.

I don't think it's some illness coming on - unless watching too much HGTV is an illness.

:o

when I feel like I am getting sick, I get a case of the lazy butt. when I am feeling better, I get up and get cleaning.

I hope it heads to my house, I keep snapping at DH to move his tools out of the kitchen drawers. We dont need keyhole saws, or allen wrenches in with the spoons.
