Fatigue and Weakness
Hi,
How many of you experience fatigue and weakness with Peripheral Neuropathy. BonDon |
I think it's probably pretty safe to say we all do, at one time or another. If you over do, you will most definitely react. My legs get fatigued and weak very quickly on uneven ground, or the sand at the beach. Sand is the worst, and the hardest for me to give up. I haven't given it up, I suffer for a few days after walking on the beach...just stubborn, I guess. Getting to the water is easy, getting back to the boardwalk is another issue.
I exercise every morning and my legs do get weak, yet I feel this is the best thing I can so for me. I do not over do, and I do not give in to muscle weakness. Balance is a big issue for me, so I do balance exercises every morning. In the long run, I am hoping this will encourage improvement. That's all we can do..keep hoping for the best. |
I cannot maintain my balance at the beach, standing in the surf,
and the bottom stones & shells hurt my feet - even wearing reef-runners, so I seldom go on the beach when I go to the ocean with my family. Pools are where I prefer to swim (and still have to wear reef-runners cause the rough bottoms hurt me too). Aside from sand, pebbles/crushed gravel (roads & driveways) is difficult for me to walk on. Cobblestones (I live in the 'historic' section of town) are very difficult to walk on. |
I do. Too much exercise, standing or walking is not good either at this point in my life. However, in saying that, CMT is progressive no matter what you do. My feet are very sensitive and my balance is not good due to the muscles that are not healthy. CMTers can only build up healthy muscles. There is a fine line with how much exercise a CMTer can do. Our bodies will tell us. And every CMTer is different. That's just part of my "inherited" neuropathy.
