SSDI... helpful info..
 

Could anyone us RSD'ers out there .. have you heard any changes in the recongintion of RSD with SSDI.. are they reconginizing this illness still??? My case is not a wc case but I ma very close in appling and thought I read something of a lawyer saying that they are no longer honoring RSD as a true disability for entitlement... I may be all wrong, lets hope Iam..:grouphug:

Also..jaw pain anyone???? Guess I could stay here all day with the new aliments my RSD has showed up with everywhere but my newest is my jaw..nerve bed shadow and pain... so not nice...

As far as I know RSD is still a listed disability with SS. I did a google search for SS info on RSD and found just the opposite instead. I talked to my wife's lawyer the other day (my wife has RSD) and she mentioned nothing negative about SS except that the Fed has increased revenues to speed cases along, which is a very good thing. :)

I appreciate your information... funny as I had heard just as you said that it is listed.. I read from a thread that someone said it has been removed.. but I agree with you in that it needs to be there and what better thought than revenues have been appropriated.. thank you! My best to your wife for a pain-less day... Iam sorry for her RSD also.:grouphug:

I was diagnosed in Jan.'o5 & applied for ssdi in mid-'05 when i finally came to terms with this being a long term problem. I finally DID get approved (with the help of a lawyer) in June '09. My official diagnoses was RSD, but my Dr. also included my 25 year long lower back problem (I think he called it "failed back surgery syndrome"). Both my dr. and lawyer said that RSD WAS recognized as an "ssdi-worthy condition"(so to speak!), but who knows whether an RSD diagnosis would have been sufficient to get ssdi?!

I don't know of the rulings. I live in MD and was hurt on the job in DE I was just turned down because I can work as a secretary. I have not been a secretary since I was in high-school in '83. Do they even call it that anymore? The job I was working at when I got hurt was 80-100 hours on my feet. Maybe two hours of office work total. How does that compute?

Now I need to find a good SSDI attorney. I am hoping they don't make me pay up-front.
I do have to say that up to now w/c has been very good to me. (Bi-weekly benefits, meds, doctor and mileage reimbursement). Guess I should stop complaining!

As I indicated to you a moment ago in another thread, more important by far than a good lawyer is a good doctor, whose records and reports will support your filing. As in an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.

And that's the truth. My wife's date in front of a judge is coming up. The lawyer received my wife's medical records from the doc and the lawyer is not happy because the records are "gleaming" with my wife's so called progress, when in fact she's not employable for obvious reasons. I talked to the doctor about this and she thought that because my wife has RSD it would be automatic that she receive SSDI. No way I stated. The doctor will write a letter stating that she is unable to work. The lawyer stated this may not be enough. It's akin to catch 22.

For a reputable SSDI lawyer, you will not have to pay up front....they take their fee from your backpay.

You will have to educate yourself on SSDI's expectation of what you can do for work. They are not at all concerned that your last job involved 80-100 hours a week on your feet. Their concern is if there is ANY work that you can do.....even as a telemarketer for minimum wage

During my journey with SSDI so far it's being recognized...I have one more appt before I go to the judge...

I was entitled mine in 08 on my first try. But I had been to several drs trying to get to go back to work and everytime a dr told me no I would go to another. So as of 08 yes it was still available and I still receive it. If that is any help. Good luck.:hug:
