I ran across your post and was wondering what ever happened with your Discitis situation. I was recently diagnosed with Discitis after a Selective Endoscopic Discectomy in Aug. 2011. Unfortunately after complaining of severe debilitating pain for 4 months my surgeon finally decided to believe me that something was wrong. He ordered CRP, Sed rate and MRI. It was not until then that I was diagnosed with the Discitis but by that time I had already began suffering severe Osteomylitis in my L4 vertebrae. I went into the OR 2 weeks ago and they removed the Disc between the L4-L5 but due to the infection they were unable to put in a cage to stabilize the L4-L5. So now we ate waiting for the vertebrae to auto fuse. Another words allow the L4 to collapse onto the L5 and hopefully to fuse. I am on oral Cipro 500mg twice a day and also receiving Cubicin 300mg one time per day through a PICC line. This has definately been the most painful situation I have ever experienced. There were Many of nights I would lay in bed and cry along with the moaning and groaning due to the pain. I have never experienced such immense pain in my entire life.
I do feel that I am getting better slowly day by day. Although now I'm dealing with the surgical pain along with not having a disc on my spine.
I just wanted to find out what you ended up doing and how are you feeling?
