I have to go back

On behalf of my grandfather, I must go back to singing again. I have given up on singing for far too long. I have to go back. Now how in the world do I start singing again. I have to redo learning songs and warm ups. sigh... I hate routines.

That might make you feel better. Using a talent should bring some joy. Give it a try,and be patient with yourself. Everything that is worth it takes time. BF:hug::hug::hug:

Yes. Pick up your singing again

Dear Sharla,
What is it about your grandfather?

Good luck... enjoy

What sort of stuff do you sing, Sharla?

I too am wondering what the link is with your grandfather.

Anyway, yes... it takes a while, don't worry if at first you are not quite on top of things. If you haven't sung in a while your "vocal dexterity" might be a little slow but it's like riding a bike... it will come back quickly once you start singing again with any regularity.

Do you have a place to practice comfortably? (That is a big problem for me.)

Keep us posted... ;) Above all, enjoy! :sing::sing::sing:

My grandpa is a musician. When I sing jazz in his band, It makes him very happy. I love to see him happy. I love my grandpa very much! He has lost weight and the shingles will just not leave him. It has almost been a year. I don't want him to die from them.

We were watching mamamia the musical and he said this is what Sharla should do for a living. He said that I am a natural.

His favorite song he likes to here from me is New York New York. He told me I am in the wrong occupation(being the health field) and that I should go into the arts. He told me this three nights ago. Well I think that he might be right. But the harsh reality is someone has to pay the bills. My singing will not do that. There will always be someone better than me. What makes him think I can make it to the top like that?

Well That is the link, our family has music talent.
I do not really have a comfortable place to sing. So I might as well sing where ever I guess. It has always been that way when I grew up. I just all the sudden stopped because I thought it was pointless to continue something if I am unable to perform it on stage. Like I wanted. So yeah. And I wanted to do some acting as well. I am sad my step mothere kept me from those hopes and dreams in highschool. All those opportunities just wasted. I am bitter over that. I am a drama queen. lol

I want to go back to acting.

Absolutely

Look for places that do 'open mic' nights... usually small clubs or even cafe's. At open mic's they sometimes just do music, sometimes it's more... open... where people can sing or play - solo or in a band - or recite poetry or tell jokes... anyway i've done those (sing/play) they are great. there's nothing like an appreciative audience to get the juices flowing again! ;)

i don't have anywhere comfortable to sing either now :( i actually can't "sing anywhere" in theory ... i sing softly to myself when i'm out and about sometimes, like waiting for buses or sometimes in the bus lol - and get stared at, lol. :D:rolleyes: people think i'm crazy when actually i'm just art-starved. i just don't have places available where it is allowed to sing/play. most parks it's not allowed! nobody does open mic's. even inside condo, when my dad isn't sleeping or we aren't eating, it's quiet hours. then, he up and goes out. now why can't he sleep during the stupid quiet hours and go out before or after! grrr.

anyway, Sharla, do it. Start doing it. Open mic doesn't pay the bills but it doesn't take much and will get you back into the groove. And you will meet people and ... things could "happen" you know?

:) I am so happy you have your grandpa and that he reminded you of your talent and dreams. :)

LOL bizi! That made me smile.

Hey great news about the head aches. I got a nose bleed! I think it was the dry cold air that gave me headaches. Then the dry air. And so now that I had the nose bleed I feel way better now then I have all week. If not then I will take some decongestant and I have some saline spray as well. Tada all better :) Tommorow I am going to go see if I can qualify for Medicaid. I need medical assistance for my meds.

There are some Karaoke areas in east Lansing I an check out for fun.

Open mic is a great idea! I will look around for sure for that. I am funny but not that funny. I have to make myself carry a notebook around and see what I can come up with. I am always thinking and talking out loud to myself. I should keep a record of it because I say some stuff that crack my roomates up like it is the crazest thing ever :)

Well Bath time

Thanks
