Anyone have eye pain?

Hi:

I was wondering if any of you suffering from PN also experience intermitent eye pain. It's like a pain behind the eye that comes on suddenly and can be quite painful. I also periodically have high sensity to light - sunlight, florescent lights... so much so that I almost can't stand it and I have to close my eyes until the pains subsides.

Is this normal with PN?

Sunny,
I also have sensitivity to light at times, and will need to close my eyes, although this is not frequent. I also exeprience eye pain like you described, almost like it is under the eyes, in both eyes, although rather mild.
And the sensitivity to touch ... ahh, that can really get me sometimes.

I get these as well mostly in the left eye which tends to tear a lot for no reason after doing something vigorous with hands for awhile. Also feels like the left goes berserk sometimes and just starts ticking or twitching like the brain losing control of it. In fact I get alot of those twitches that are really suspcious of ALS muscle deenervation. But the muscle is not wasting(from the neuro) and I keep them as active as possible. I do get the burn or sting from time to time right behind the eye and around the face(sometimes like a needle going in).

The simple explanations for eye PAIN involve allergies and sinus congestion.

A non-simple explanation is a serious something wrong with the eye. I had a stroke in my left eye about 10 yrs ago, which caused alot of pain. It was from a small blood clot in a vein, which burst the vein and flooded the retina with blood. It was a one time thing, and I had angiograms of both eyes showing normal circulation. It was thought to be due to a sudden increase of blood pressure from a horrendous situation at work.

So pain, should be checked by the eye doctor, if it is returning, or somewhat continual.

Glacoma possibility

Hi;

Don't overlook the possibility of glacoma as this can lead to blindness (full of cheer, aren't I, lol :D). Get your eyes tested just to rule out any potentially serious problems. Also, I can be sensitive to light and sound (especially if I have a sinus migraine. I'm not fun to be around then,)

I can play a tune with my right eye, every time I rub my eye, you can hear a sibilant melody. I understand it is my nasolacrimal duct which is greatly enlarged for some reason. (Sjogren's?)

Well I have had eye pain and problems for 2 years and 3 of PN and RSD. Finding a doc to connect the docs is impossible basically. I have been to 40 plus eye apts with 8 eye specialists, neuro with mris, reumatolgist, allergist, dermatolgist I could go on. When one doc is confused they come up with a new specialist to send me to. I have made eye progress like my leg progress and I am think it may be from the meds I am on. I have flare ups just like my legs with my eyes like I am having right now. I wish I had more answers for you just my experience

I have exact eye thing going on

Just can't pinpoint the exact source. I never knew if I could attribute it to the neuropathy itself or the medication being used to treat it.

Carotid Arteries that have significant blockage may cause eye pain and many other syptoms especially things related to a stoke or a mini- stroke.

you may want to read up on cluster headache (which I think affects behind the eye) and see if that sounds relevant

cheers
