Magnetic Resonance and neuropathic pain

Hi,

I believe I have small fibers neuropathic pain.

I did two Magnetic Resonance to my spine (without contrast injection) and on both I felt they have worsenened my condition (my pain and seemed to spread it over my whole body) although the doctors I've seen say there is no relation. Have anybody heard anyone else complain that a magnetic resonance, even without contrast, has made neuropathic pain symptoms worse?

Thank you,

Filipe Gacia

At the present time, there is no relationship of magnetic resonance imaging and small fiber neuropathy.

When I had my knee done years ago, I had pain in it for week, extra.

I use magnets South pole to the body to block pain. I do think MRI's do something..because I had more pain after mine. It did go down. Most of my pain was at the meniscal trigger point after the MRI. I really don't know how the MRI works or what the polarity is that is used. Everyone says no effects...but I don't really believe that. My pain from the knee was in the thigh and after the MRI it was in the knee itself!

I did feel warmth as described in this answer:

And warming nerves can sometimes set them off. As to whether this is permanent, I have no idea. Mine lasted about a week.

This is interesting too:

Thank you for replying me,

Another thing I got from my MRIs was a "Skin Writting Effect" (dermographism). Since the MRI i always wake uo with wrinkles on my skin. And I they are associated with a burning sensation. It has been decreasing but it still here. Have you experience this? How long was your MRI?

My MRI was about a hour long. Longer than I expected.

I wonder if you have a condition called iron overload, where iron is deposited in the tissues. Iron would react with the magnetism of the MRI...tattoos do this, when the inks have iron in them.

Iron overload is called hemochromatosis. It has to be tested for by a doctor with blood tests. This is a genetic disease.
