Has anyone tried these for fatigue? What was your experience?

caffeine and some vitamins and a very low price.

Patch technology is not cheap.... Perhaps the caffeine is absorbed thru the skin, but that is all it is.

What about just taking some caffeine pills to achieve the same effect? How much caffeine does plain ole aspirin have compared to the patch?

2.99 for those patches is very cheap. Patches that are made properly which requires extensive pharmaceutical technique are expensive...all are expensive.

My take is that these are a hoax....a placebo thing. They are too cheap to be real. They may even come from China for all we know...cringe!

If you don't like tea, then there is always NoDoz. My hubby uses that when he has to drive long distances for audits.

Aspirin does not have caffeine in it. Some combination products like Excedrin have either aspirin or Tylenol with caffeine.
Taking caffeine every day can lead to a headache withdrawal phenomenon over time. Caffeine sets up the brain for headaches when used every day.

I only gave tea as an alternative because tea is gentler than coffee.
These patches have 20mg and if that is absorbed all thru the skin, is about equivalent to 100mg or oral caffeine. All things you swallow go thru the liver before hitting your body/brain blood stream. So some caffeine would be eliminated that way. But I don't know how much.
(going thru the liver first is called "first pass metabolism".)

These patches are a gimmick...offer no medical advantages really.

Well, I've read the "customer reviews" and they're all over the board: anywhere from 1 to 5 stars.

But some folks were already taking a big dose of caffeinated drinks every day. Others complained about the latex bothering their skin. A few had posted they thought they were expensive (which is why I thought that's what you meant).

I could send for a "free" sample, but then I'd be signed up to automatically receive a month's supply every 30 days.

Thanks for responding, Mrs. D. Still waiting for my first dose of Dexedrine to kick in. (It's been 4 hours now and I can feel a little surge). Just wondering what else is out there that would be safer and less expensive to get some energy.

What strength did the doctor give you? After 4 hours you should be seeing maximum effect!

5 mg. twice a day. (I only want to take half a dose, though for the first while).

Are these the capsules with the little timed beads in them?

Or tablets?

5mg capsules is a pediatric dose.
5mg tablets or 10mg -15mg capsules is an adult dose.

If you are taking 5mg CAPSULES, you would only be getting 2.5mg by 4 hrs. That is really a small amount.

Mrs. D, I can't find a matching description. Mine is in a clear capsule labeled: Barr 954. The color inside is kind of an off-white.

I called the pharmacy with that info and all the pharmacist said was, "the doctor probably wanted to start you out at the lowest dose possible." Hmmmm. Doc's office is closed for lunch. Maybe I'll call later. I'm sure they already think I'm a "problem child", lol!

It appears yours is the generic for Dexedrine.

That was pretty pricey for a generic.
