Hey group,

I found a really nice article that discusses in detail the effects brain injuries have on our endocrine system. It also discusses all of the tests you should have done after experiencing a brain injury. My doctor thought I was out of my mind (no pun intended) when I started asking him about getting my hormones checked. It wasn't until I brought in this article to him that he started taking me seriously. So you guys may want to do the same the next time you see your doctor.

Interesting article. Too technical for most but maybe the push 'hormone denier' doctors need to read.

I would be suspect of a doctor who cast aspersions on a patient for asking about getting hormone levels tested. Further, I would not expect that doctor to understand the meaning of the results. My T was within the normal range but near the bottom. The 'normal range' is rather large. Same goes for the normal range for folate and B-12.

Those same doctors will often say, "Try this drug and let me know how you do." They are willing to take pot shots ate our symptoms with Big Pharma's recommendations but not try the least invasive things like vitamins and hormones.

And they think our problems are in OUR heads? LOL

Thanks for the advice. Normally I would be suspect of this kind of doctor as well but he has been very honest with me about this. He told me that although he has a vague idea about the neuroendocrine effects of brain injuries from medical school, this was not his area of expertise so he was confused as to why I was requesting all of the tests. However, after I showed him the article he became very cooperative and ordered all of the tests that I wanted done. He even suggested that if some of the preliminary tests come back suspect, then he would refer me to a couple of different specialists.

it stands to reason that injury that has an effect on our cognition, would also have an effect on the automatic nervous system and organ function, ITS ALL IN THE MIND, is true in as much as the mind/brain controls every action of our body's, A holistic approach to any disease . whether it is caused by injury or break down of the etheric blue print. or outside pressured of environment on the body, can only be helped by good nutrition and a placid state of mind

easy to say hard to achieve, but worth the effort
