Post Concussion problems
HI everyone - New member Dec 2009. Just found the site and looks great. I am 52 and sufferred two concussions over a year ago and have not yet recovered. I was very active but now can do very little without the dull headaches returning. No trouble sleeping and no other side effects like depression , loss of memory etc. Was interested in anybody who used cranial sacro therapy and how they treated excercise in the recovery process.
Thanks Clemente |
Clemente,
Cranial Sacral Therapy is a controversial therapy for head injuries. It has been reported to help a good number of people but these reports are all anecdotal and no solid research has been done to test is effectiveness. That doesn't mean it won't work for you but just be aware of this going into the therapy. Another treatment that does have solid research backing it for its effectiveness in treating head injuries is neurofeedback. Hope this helps. |
Hi Clemente,
I'm sorry you have had concussions and find yourself here. There are a lot of very knowledgeable and experienced people on this site. It can be very helpful for comfort and trading information. Welcome! |
Hi Clemente and welcome to our little brain boo boo club.
I was a fitness freak before my tbi and was frustrated that the headaches stopped me from working out. I mentioned this to my PT and he suggested that elevation in my heart rate trigger a blood pressure spike which made the headache go nuts. We exercised together in the gym until I found the range where I could elevate my heart rate without worsening my headache. I now where a heart rate monitor during physical activity. I hope this info might help. Cheers |
