Paper Dolls

Remember making your own clothes for your paper dolls?

TwoKidsTwoCats 01-07-2010 03:01 PM

I sure did! Plus I made them from used wrapping paper, cards, Sears catalog pages, and big leaves from the Hickory tree in our yard :D:cool:.

and pages from the wallpaper sample catalog. :D

I LOVED Paper Dolls and would get so excited as I cut that last outfit out. I remember wearing those poor dolls out and scotch taping them until I could get new ones.

Gosh, I was never that creative...always got the little kits...I loved colorforms, too, but that was very limiting in how creative you could be...

You had to be creative when you were financially challenged. :D I had Annette and Lennon Sisters paper dolls. (Still have, actually.....)

I had some paper dolls, too! They had been my sister's beforehand. She must have never played with them or taken very good care of them because they looked brand new when I got them. My Grandmother used to tell me how they cut out pictures of people from the Sears catalog and glued them to cardboard to make their paper dolls. They'd create a whole house with pictures from the catalog. I'm glad I had the chance to have that experience. I feel like the kids today miss out on alot of "let's pretend" stuff.

You're right, Kelly...I used to save cardboard boxes, old food containers, etc and make a play store in the yard. Then we'd dress up in mom's old clothes, and we'd play house/store. I also loved playing school (towards the end of summer, anyway;)).

Those are great memories. I can't believe you still have your paper dolls. I do remember making clothes for mine. Getting brand new paper dolls was SO EXCITING....I can still remember the smell. It was the first thing I did! :p
