Promises, Promises!

My DIL, who is in the Army and just, not too long ago, returned, from Iraq, is being sent to Afganistan on Feb 14th. Happy Valentine's Day from the Prez..

What happened to the promises to get us out of there by 2010????

Prayers, please for Dawn and all the others who are being sent over there and for our dear soldiers who are already there.:hug:

Oh, Sally, I'll definitely keep her and all the others in my prayers. A friend of my son's had to leave on Thanksgiving Day. :( I'm hoping that this will all be over with sooner than later.

Keep reminding us every so often, or post a little picture of her that I can pin to my prayer board. My intentions are wonderful, but I have holes in my brain.

My prayers are with your family.

It really is the pits of cherries. My BIL just came home from Iraq in Sept. he is going to Afghanistan in June...he is already receiving his orders. He is gone every weekend, he retired from the Army and is now in Air Force Reserve.

I SUPPORT OUR MILITARY, THEY, DO NOT HAVE A CHOICE...THEY GO WHERE THEY ARE TOLD, REGARDLESS OF WHAT THEY FEEL~

My DS is over there now on his 3rd tour in that section and he did 3 tours in the other sandbox. Its just amazing to me! He spent more than 1 year extra over there once because there were no recruits to replace him with! He was given all sorts of promises that when he went...blah blah blah...

We cannot get out by 2010 or 2012. Until the country can protect, and take care of itself, we are simply unable to look at our watches and say "ok, my time is up, have a good day." and then go home. Since the troup surge recently they have seen dramatic increases in numbers of locals who are volunteering to learn how to be military or police. They have now matched the pay scale of what the Taliban was allowing for their recruits. Most of them dont know how to read, so learning, and training is all visual. You cant simply hand them a book and have them study it.

I want my child home! I am ever so proud of him, but I want the need for him to be in harms way to be overwith.

Sally, I am so sorry. Unfortunately the promise was to get troops out of Iraq by 2010, not Afganistan. They really need good troops over there and I am sure she's one of them. It's so hard on the families.

Prayers for your DIL and her family.
