I was just granted ssdi and ssi

I was just granted ssdi and ssi and my father is my representative payee. Does ssi, plus ssi back pay have to be accounted for on what he spends it on for me? ie...like saving receipts for groceries, clothing, and recreation, etc in detail?

Also, does ssdi, plus ssdi back pay have to be accounted for as well? I worked for the ssdi, are there still restrictions on how the money can be spent? Thanks for all your help and god bless. I am 36 y/o male btw... :)

Payees have to account for how they spend any SSI or SSDI. That is supposed to protect you from being taken advantage of.

SSI recipients do have to show how they spent large sums of money they receive since there is a limit on resources.

I was approved for disability but not SSI as of January 1 2008, and I have two minor kids that I get some money for every month so I am their representative payee and I just recently got a paper in the mail from social security asking me how I am using it and according to the booklet I am suppose to saving at least $30 dollars a month in a savings account for them. They are not asking for receipts but I have a lot of them anyways just in case.
