MS Experience.
I posted this on Brain's thread in the Stumble Inn and thought I'd start a thread, to see how many of you had an experience such as mine.
My MS road was filled with one time experiences, never to return again...such as, Bells Palsy, Temporary hearing loss, Vertigo, Shingles, The Hug and ON. The numbness, tingles and weaknesses progressed, however. Has your experience been like this or have you had repeating ON, Vertigo, Bells Palsy. etc....?? |

I've had hearing loss in my left ear but I think it's permanent. Numbness, tingles and weakness are ever present. I cannot even open a 2 liter bottle with my right hand anymore. I've had issues with my legs but they all seem to resolve themselves quickly. I know that by me taking LDN I have slowed the progress considerably. I'd hate to think of the condition I'd be in now were it not for my LDN. |

Double vision X 2. Paresthesia, slight bladder/bowel etc. but nothing major at this point, knock wood.
Love your new pic, Sal. You are a cutie patootie. :D |
I had vertigo(1995) and trouble walking for 2 months. I went numb(1993) on left side only from armpit to toes for 3 weeks. Neither of these has occurred again. After childbirth(1995) I had cognitive difficulty that comes and goes. As time goes on I deal with some cog fog, tingles, muscle tremors and weakness.

I had ON once, 38 years ago. Have always had balance issues and right leg weakness. My leg is now so weak that I cannot lift it at all.
In the beginning I also had problems with my hands moving on their own as well as the ON and other balance and leg dragging issues. The hands cleared up and I have not had any more problems with them for 38 years. Have had a continuous bladder problem for years, but it is controlled with meds. For now, I am "normal" from the belly button up. gmi |
Many of the symptoms that I had originally -- spasticity, ms hug, and burning have never gone away, and I am still experiencing new ones (eye pain, vibrations, other sensory things). Cog fog and fatigue have improved. The only other symptom that has partially disappeared is numbness. Vertigo comes and goes. My entire left side was originally numb, and now for the most part my left foot and occasionally my lower left leg are partially numb. Most of my problems still seemed to be on my left side. I had my first major flare in March 2007. I am not sure if I have flares or just a progression.

I also had an episode of bells but only saw a doctor informally at work. Took some prednisolone and it cleared.
Neuro spec asked if I lost my sense of taste and smell at the same time as the Bells ? Since I didn't recall doing so, he told me it probably wasn't Bells, but likely my first episode. I think many MS'ers have what they assume is Bells but actually isn't. It's left me with some facial weakness, especially when tired. |
My stuff seems to come and go, in no particular pattern. Last time it really rained I woke up too exhausted to empty my dishwasher. Yesterday it rained buckets and my back spasms were worse than ever. The hug comes and goes, and changes each time: sometimes mild and goes away quick, other times it lasts for hours and feels like my chest is being crushed. I've had leg weakness, cog issues, nerve pain in my face, arms and hands, the hug, nausea, tingling toes and hands, muscle spams in my knee and back. Like I tell my hsuband: with MS, every day holds a surprise.
