Timespan

Does anyone use Timespan? I use to use it at night so I didnt have to get up and take mestinon in the middle of sleep but during last two exacerbations, Ive found that it only makes it harder to figure out the right dose of mestinon to take...anyone else?

Hi draggin!

I use the Timespan 2 times daily - once when I wake up and then 12 hours later! Love the stuff!

How do YOU feel on it? Are you getting any relief? Are you on roids as well?

Hope this post finds you strong and happy!

Hi Draggin'
I take my Timespan at 11/11:30 pm and my first 60 mg Mestinon at 8:30/9 am.
I usually break the Timespan tablet in two which should should decrease a little bit the slow release and therefore increase the quick release.
Bedtime Timespan is taken with some plain yoghourt sweetened with cherry jam...
A year ago, I was taking half a tablet of Timespan and six months ago, none.
Morning Mestinon was already as indicated.

I just started the Timespan about 2 weeks ago. I take the first one when I wake up, and the second one about 8 hours later. At first the Timespan wasn't giving me enough, and I was so weak all day. Now I'm taking a quarter pill of the quick release when I take the timespan, and about every 4-5 hours throughout the day. But it's so much better not to have the crashing effect when I was just on the quick release and it was wearing off. Tell your Dr. whats goin on....mine told me to start with a quarter pill at waking and add up as needed...so of course I tried a half instead, and ended up with too much...GOOD LUCK!!!

I use Timespan for the most likely demanding 8/10 hours of my day. Sometimes ½ most often whole. Supplemented with ½ -¾- whole 60 mg as needed. It negates the big crash for me as well. Sometimes "duh" I forget that relief is just a swallow (and applesauce plus 20 minutes) away.

Timespan is my friend.

I agree with Christy that Timespan is a very good friend.

I used to take two a day; one before bed, and one in the morning, but I'm finding that taking one at night only is good. I take 60mgs of the regular every 3-hours during waking hours, and that does the trick during the day.

When I was taking the timespan during the day, I was also taking 60mgs every 5-hours, and I was experiencing major overdose symptoms at certain times of the day. However, during these overdose periods, my muscles worked better. This was all during the initial period of starting prednisone. I think that the prednisone has finally worked to the level it's going to work at, so 60mgs every 3-hrs is sufficient, without the overdose sx (thank God).

Thanks all for the Timespan info. Sounds like its worth trying to figure out dosage......I would love to lose the crashing effect....thanks again

I fully agree with Nicknerd.
Try to take Timespan only at night, broken in two or whole depending on your swallowing capacity and live during daytime with only your regular 60 mg Mestinon, without breaking it, every 3, 4 or 5 hours depending on your needs.
Good luck.:)
Maurice.
