Surgery Recovery time

Ive been diagnosed with 6-7 tarlov cysts. Which cause intense pain down the back of my right leg after sitting for 10minutes. Sittings the worst, standing second. But walking and riding a bike are fine. Anyways Im going to be having surgery soon. Im wondering about recovery times. I understand it all depends on how well the surgery went and its different for everyone, but id love a rough estimate. Im 16, very active, and healthy. The surgery will involve a 3.5 long incision above my tail bone through my back. He will then remove part of my tail bone. Then take care of the cysts. There will be a CSF drain thing in there somewhere to redirect oncoming CSF. Then he puts the bone back on, bolts it down. removes drain. stitches me back up.

So any rough guesses would be great on when i can do certain things again. I mountain bike and ride my bike ALL the time. when would I be able to do these again? I understand riding a bike is way different then mountain biking, cause its easiar and not as bumpy and jerking my body around. Anyways, how long until i could mountain bike again? Its just like riding over roots and rocks and stuff on trails. Its not that intense. Im 16 and obviously treasure my summer vacations, and really am worried if i will be back to my normal self by then. So how long till i can sit in a chair? walk up steps? ride my bike? mountain bike? run? yard work? just want some rough guesses. Thank you so much

I'm going to have surgery soon too - 2 more weeks. I have 4 large sacral cysts with many smaller ones and 1 thoracic cyst at C7. I have symptoms from all, my sacral bone has eroded from these cysts, nerves are being compressed and are dying & I am tired of hurting and taking medications all the time. I feel strange when I take meds & I hurt so bad when I don't = to the point that I just want to vomit all the time & roll up into a ball & die. I am going to have my surgery with Dr Feigenbaum, who are you having yours with? I have been wondering about what I can & can't do after surgery & how long it will take to get back to doing the same things again. Where did you get your information about what they will be doing during surgery from? Who's doing your surgery? Sorry for so many questions.

I don't want to scare you but...

I have once sacral cyst. My doctors here on the west coast have been telling me that surgery on these is universally a failure. I'm really confused. I understand that you should be walking in about two to three weeks but won't be completely healed for 6 months to a year. The Tarlove cyst foundation has a lot of information. Do you mind telling me where you are having surgery? A surgeon in Kansas city has been recommended to me. However, I have so many doctors telling me it will fail I'm really scared.
