Wii Fit Plus
A few weeks ago my hubby ordered me a Wii Fit Plus and it arrived today and I love it so far. Some of the exercises are ones that I do in PT, and it's fun!! If any of you get the opportunity to get a Wii of any kind it will benefit you so much. Even though it hurts, it gets those muscles moving and you don't realize that it is so beneficial, so bye, bye boring PT trainer, Hello Wii Fit Plus!!:)

One of the neatest fit games I found today was the one where you sit on the fit board and balance yourself to look at a candle....I have always had a hard time with balance because I also have cerebral palsy, but this Wii Fit Plus has TONS of balancing exercises and they can be so gentle and easy and I don't have my therapist griping in my ear or any outside noises....It's also going to save us a ton of money because my insurance only pays for so many PT sessions in a year. We have basically saved $750 for the year 2010 by buying this....I feel like there is a little light at the end of my tunnel!!!

It absolutely is way cool! |
I got a Wii at Christmas - it came bundled with the basic sports package, which is pretty gentle. A couple of weeks ago, my daughter brought over her Fit+ game and balance board so I could try it, and I agree that it is great.
This has the advantage (over other video-type games) of being able to get toned-down to whatever level you are able. So for those of us who have limitations, there is still plenty to do and things to accomplish. I am going to go out and invest in my own. Hats off to Nintendo for recognizing that we are not all 17-year-old skateboarders anymore. :D Mike |
I think it should be endorsed by a lot of pain disorder groups, even though I still have the pain it is giving me the motivation to at least TRY the games and exercises. Too bad health insurance doesn't pay for it....it should!

I love the exercises when I'm having a good day. RSD is in my right arm/hand and is stage 1 so I put my icepacks on and can do a few things: soccer, penguins, lunge. I can't do it very long before my arm gets absolutely huge, dark and incredibly hot. It messes me up pretty badly for most of the day, even when I keep my arm elevated on the back of a chair with lots of pillows. So I don't do it anywhere near as much as I'd like to.

Go Wii
Absolutely great, my son (21) bought one about a month ago. He was so excited, he bought three or four games and the wii fit. He set me up on a program that I can actually do, and on days when I can't use my legs he set it up for upper body work out. I love it. The best part is the bonding, I really miss doing things with my kids, and we have had so much fun with this system, of course he laughs at me alot, when the screen tells me I am going too slow, or try not to hobble when I am walking. God Bless my son for being so thoughtful, and the wii for family bonding and great exercise.
Wishing you all good times and better health Jeanie |
This is great to know. I have the WII fit, but I'm going to also get the Wii FIt Plus. It sounds great. Thank you so much for this great idea.

I'm doing great. Still just a little tender from surgery..my poor back doesn't know why we hate it so much. lol THe pump is wonderful. I'm looking forward to getting my next increase in diluidad. All the snow we've had is making me behave myself. My family doesn't want me to move out of the bed. they aren't taking any chances, but still, they are driving me crazy...:deadhorse: I wish I had known about this long ago. I'm getting the meds, but they are going where they are needed instead of going thru my body and having an effect on all my other organs. My brain is getting back to normal. Hugs Mary |
