Complete Spinal Fusion

I had a complete spinal fusion 20 years ago due to scoliosis. I am beginning to have chronic pain and am looking for anyone who might be in a similar situation. I had the fusion 20 years ago, and I am scared that it is only going to get worse.
Any comments would be appreciated.

Hi Asgracie ~ By complete, are you talking about from the cervical all the way down to the sacral or just the lumbar or what?

Did you have instrumentation, i.e. screws, rods, plates??? It's possible that if you did have instrumentation, these are either broken, loose, out of place as this happens frequently. After this amount of time, it wouldn't surprise me! My goodness, you must not have much flexibility, bless your heart!

I would think that it would be time for some new X-rays. They should be able to tell if the instrumentation (if you have it) is ok. Even with instrumentation, I believe you can have a C-scan, so that would be another option to see what's going on. You need some studies done.

I hope and pray things are not going awry! ;) You've been thru enough. Please let us know what you find out, ok? God bless and take care. Peace, Lee :D
