Question about pain pump operation
My wife just had a pain pump implanted. All the descriptions said there were going to be just two incisions, but it seems there was a third on her side. If anyone else has had a pump did they have a third incision as well or is this unusual?
TIA. |
Hi Pinehurst ~ I had the SCS implanted, but I had the trial for the pump. They told me the pump would be the same as the SCS.
I assume she has incisions in her upper back for the leads. There probably is a couple there for those. Then there should be an incision in her side (at least one) for the "pump" itself ~ or wherever they put the pump. So yes, there should be probably 3 incisions. I doubt they are very big. Are you concerned about them or are they infected? Or is it just the number of incisions? It's NOT unusual at all, so you dont have anything to worry about. I hope this helps. If they DO begin to get red or inflamed, call her doc especially if she develops a fever, ok? God bless and good luck! Peace, Lee |
Hi,
I've had 2scs implanted and taken out. I now have the pump and I love it. I had it implanted 7 wks ago. I only had 1 incision as I had the unit in the back. Pm me and I'll give you a group to join that is for those who have the pump. You will love it. They sometimes have to open the side to help threading the cath thru from front to back. I'll be waiting to hear from you Mary |
