Did they offer for you to go thru their pain treatment center? Which doctor did you see?

Kakimbo 03-07-2010 03:41 PM

Yes, I am in their pain treatment program. I saw Dr. Adams, Dr. Cohen and the anesteg. doctor. I am going back April 16 to have an SCS implanted. YAY! They are doing a study on my outcome with the SCS, and eving paying me for it!!!!

me again

Did they try anything else before recommending the stimulator. I wonder why some people go thru the pain treatment center in the psychiatric center and others do not. I find this very confusing?? Good Luck!

No. Not yet. I am just happy they are taking my pain seriously. I will let you know. It was a tremendous relief just to have them listen to me. No accusations, no interrogations. No questions of my judgement. It felt good to just be validated. They have a reputation for being the best. I believe that so far.

Hi I went to a program at Cleveland Clinic. It was a Mon thru Fri 8 hours a day pain program. It consisted of therapy individual and group. Ocupational and physical therapy. They did not do treatments and no meds were aloud for as needed pain. They did do meds like neurontin etc. When I went it was after 6 months of this and my pain was too high so they sent me to the anestesolgist and were going to implant the TEC. I chose not to at that time. For many I saw at the program which I could not relate to but they were there to get off narcotics. So for me even if I did get the TEC I was not going back to the program but was going to work one on one. I looked into Mayo which had a similar program. For some though I can see where it could be a benfit though I did not feel it was individualized enough.
Kim good luck with the scs and the rest of the program and research

No. They did not offer anything like that for me. They will implant the SCS, but I still need to find a good PM doc. They did give me scripts for this month, and I am waiting to hear from the Psych dr. to do the trial. Thank you for the good wishes!
