9months out from surgery having complications.

:( My name is debbie I had my surgery in may of 2009. Everything was good, but a few weeks ago I started to have the same symptoms again, went back to my neurologist he has done, a MRI of the brain, a MRI with contrast of my neck, an EEG and a Long term EEG, all with the same answer everything looks the same as it did after surgery.
Well I am in lots of pain unable to sit up or stand for to long, and it is effecting my life, has anyone gone through this if so what did you do....

It's been 9 months since my decompression surgery and laminectomy for my chiari 1 malformation. I am having alot of burning and tingling in my arms, hands, legs and feet when lying down. So, if I awake at night I have at of trouble falling back to sleep due to this burning and tingling feeling. It also makes it hard when I get up in the morning. My neurosurgeon is not sure as well as my doctor and physiotherapists. I am awaiting an MRI scan in June. Hopefully that will give me some answers. These symptoms were present before the surgery along with others (ie, dizziness, imbalance, headaches, sensitivity to light, sounds and movements and leg and arm tremors) All of the other symptoms listed have gone away. I am also confused!

I am having some symptoms come back too!

It's been 9 months since my decompression and laminectomy surgery for my chiari 1 malformation. Initially, all my symptoms were gone for the first 5 months after surgery but now I am experiencing a burning and tingling feeling in my arms, hands, feet and legs. It is mostly when I am lying down. It makes it difficult to wake up with this feeling. I can't sleep for long periods. My other symptoms I had before the surgery were dizziness, imbalance, sensitivity to light, sounds and movements, leg and arm tremors, fatigue and headaches. These are all gone. I have talked to my NS, doctor and PT but they do not have any answers for me. I am confused too!!!

It's comforting to know I am not alone but it would be easier to understand why this is happening. I fear the doctors saying "this is all due to stress" because that's all I heard when I was struggling to find answers about my chiari. It took 2 years, 6 NS's, 3 neurologists, 2 ENT's, 1 neuroopthamalogists, and 3 neuropychiatrists to determine I should have the surgery for the chiari. Over that 2 years, I slowly began to worsen as my symptoms increased and I was using a wheelchair and lot's of drugs to function. It was a nightmare!

I am happy that I am through all that and I am able to walk around freely and enjoy many of the things I was unable to do but I am scared that the symptoms will slowly come back as they are beginning to.

Thanks for your reply
