Kadian, anyone else take this for TOS chronic pain?

How is everyone today? Bright, sunny and warm in So CA today! I have taken Kadian for many years for chronic TOS pain! I have come down on the dosage as I am tired of sleeping my life away! On a low dose of Kadian I still get constipated and so I take Amitiza! I also take Metanx twice a day for my chronic pain. Any comments or suggestions I would appreciate! Thanks!

I haven't heard of Kadian.
I am familiar with cutting out drugs that make one feel groggy though.
Are you looking for suggestions for other pain meds?

Welcome to NT

There's lots of info here but I don't recall that drug either. We'll learn together.

Thanks for sharing.

See you around the board.

I think Kadian affects people differently.

You have to look at what "family" Kadian comes from - it is morphine, right? I can't remember...but probably that entire family won't help you.

Anyways, for ME, Kadian never worked, brought the pain down a little for a short time and then ended up not working at all.

The key is finding what drugs work for you. (Obviously, but it's hard, especially if the ins. co.s' claim you are drug seeking!)

But if you can find a good doctor to get behind you - hard to find - and try drug after drug, finally one should work.

Ones that DON'T work for me:

Tyl. Codeine
Kadien
Norco
Tramadol
Cymbalta
Lyrica
Methadone
Oxy Contin

can't remember more

Ones that do

Dilaudid
Fentanyl Patch (used as a base with others on top)
Ativan
Sometimes Xanax to trick the Ativan from the brain
Ambien for occasional sleep - seems to help nerve pain also, but must be very careful and use only right before bed and make sure family keeps an eye on me.
Fioricet for occasional migraine
Lidocaine patches for spot pains
Soma for occasional muscle spasms when NOTHING else works -
Apercreme daily by someone else putting it on and smoothing my muscles down, and definitely gently
Wellbutrin for depression prevention

And then for no reason some of these will stop. Then we have to find a new one to try. Sometimes going back to an old one will work now differently.

God bless and keep trying.

Vits. A, D and extra Bs
Milk Thistle
Maybe if you're a woman try the natural estrogen creme

For Health Shake:
Flax Seed Oil
Salmon Oil in case there are different properties
Regular oats
Ice
Get GREAT non-animal protein
orange juice and frozen blueberries
or milk or milk substitute and bananas
handful of wheat germ unless you're allergic
handful of natural walnuts or almonds

Natural and cheap muscle creme
buy a cheap but natural creme for skin with nothing bad in it or if you're not allergic use Aspercreme
take SOMA or other muscle relaxer and take about 5 per creme batch and use coffeegrinder to smash it up to a fine powder
From doctor get very small dose (usually free packet) of steroid Prednisone (only on occasion for this)

mix all up and have someone with gloves on work on legs and arms gently and for not too long.

Ice and/or heat can help, to "trick" the brain, but NEVER use HEAT PAD WITH FENTANYL
.

Best of luck and God bless you. You are not crazy. You deserve pain relief. I am always here for those who PM me.

Hi,

I was told Kaidian is a form of morphine, I guess like a generic. This was Rx'd for me at a pain clinic in the Bay Area.
