Need your help

Workman's comp is denying that RSD was caused at the time of my injury(had an elbow injury and nerve compression both requiring surgery). Before surgery my Dr. thought i might also have RSD along with the other 2 injuries. Of course, he told me this and wrote it on a script for me but failed to write it in his chart. I do have an attorney but i was wondering if anyone has any good info that would help me. This is so upsetting to think i worked so many years for this company and they kick you when your down.

Dear momof4
Talk with your Dr to see if he recollects that conversation..try to get it in writing, explain to him how inperitive it is that you get this,,If he is a good Dr and a friend,,he should comply,, All WC always try to blame an injuriy away, Im so sorry to hear of this,,Pray on it,,,,,,,,bobber

RN.

My doctor did the same thing. He wrote it on a script and said to go home and research it. WHOA! I was shocked at how casually he mentioned it. My year anniversary was yesterday. Did you save the script? Do you have records from other doctors/p.t. who perhaps documented it? I have found that important info tends to get lost in reports, etc. This will all work out for you. Please try not to stress. We all know what that does.

Good luck and keep us posted.

Oh my Gosh... aweful aweful aweful..my thought is possibly ask the dr. tackfully if he can recall and post it officially and if he does not..Please describe to him the pain and all of your sumptoms to bring his memory back possibly by relooking you over and examing it..hit will jog his memory.. and even if he does not remember at least explain your case and ask him to help you..He was he one who jotted it on the script pad ...he should have documented it properly.. thats the least he can do.. no questions asked..write it down..who cares when it started (cept...WC)..so plead if need be..These ins. co's are crazy..they ain't caring about us thats for dang sure... Don't worry..it will be okay....

Kim/ Keep Smilin/Bobber-
The Dr. wrote it on his script pad and yes i kept it- no date but it is his writing. When he gave it to me i remember someone having RSD many years ago and having to wear a compression glove and i remember thinking-no way i could never put something tight on my arm. I went to ortho. and then for surgery. I now wonder why that Dr. didnt send me right to a pain Dr. for his opinion-could have been treated within 3months of injury instead they didnt properly diagnose me for almost a year. But like someone said here- i just have to move forward and stop wondering what if...
I do think I will call him.

I am confused...... nothing new there........but did you want him to write that it started before surgery or after surgery........I am not understanding your statement
"Workman's comp is denying that RSD was caused at the time of my injury(had an elbow injury and nerve compression both requiring surgery). Before surgery my Dr. thought i might also have RSD along with the other 2 injuries."
If it started after surgery wasn't the injury still the reason it started after the surgery? I mean, I think I mean anyway........What does it matter when it started? Because you had a work injury, you had to have surgery, then RSD started. If you would not have been injured, you would not have needed the surgery thus you would not have gotten RSD............is that right???? They are just trying to SPLIT hairs with you so you will maybe drop the whole WC case. Do you have a lawyer yet??? If not I suggest you find one because you are going to need one if you are to ever get what you will need from them. They will try anything & everything to not have to pay you darn dime.
I know if your doctor had written it down ahead of time it might have helped you, but it might have given WC a leg in stating then, 'we won't approve surgery as it will make RSD worse.' They might have atleast caused the surgery to be withheld long enough to make medical matters worse for you, if possible.

Mine was never WC. I was working when I got it, but there was no obvious injury of any kind from work. I just got it.......they think because of past injuries to my back that had nothing to do ever with any job I ever held. But I have heard enough sotries to know how WC works.

Good luck.................

Dear Mom...

This is so bad but my first thought was ... well then... cuz he didn't send you thry the proper channels right away...then....toss a date that script then..but that is bad of me huh?? Okay so possibly since you have it you can contact them asking to look back in your records and match up you visit with the date he wrote it...can you think of at least the month or some event etc...that will jog your memory?? Then have the guy fix it... whatcha think??

Hugz,..K

Keep thinking ..you'll get it..or we will eventually...:)

The same thing happened to me and i kept on him every single day. I even had my attorney call him several times too. Finally he called me and I told him and all he was worried about is me doubting his excellence. I told him its not even about that its about what I have now..No one is saying your not a great dr just that things happen. Once he realized that I was not out for that he wrote up a new report and sent it in. Keep pressing him don't let it go. I pray that he comes around and document properly for you hun. goodluck and keep us posted sweeite:)

Debby, Hi. It doesnt matter to me when it was written either and i think your right w/c will try to just get rid of me so i guess it doesnt matter when he wrote it. He did see me before surgery but never mentioned that i shouldnt have surgery if it was RSD. I think with the other injuries, especially a +EMG from a compressed nerve(the symptoms can be similar) they have to be ruled out before they call it RSD. My ortho didnt believe it was RSD until symptoms spread.

RNcrps2,
I went to a podiatrist when this started for me as both feet burned. So, I figured the pain is in my feet so that is who you go see right? A foot doctor. He said I had 2 neuromas in my left foot & 2 in my right foot. He never once told me I had RSD probably. He said it was 50/50 that the pain would go away with surgery to remove them & 50/50 that it could get worse. Stupid me I took the attitude of 50/50 it would go away. I let him do surgery on the left foot only. After he tried cortisone & alcohol shots in both feet. HOLY COW did both of them hurt??? oh heck YES!!! Made the burn way worse. Anyway woke up from surgery & my left foot pain had gone up several octives more. I didn't know burning pain could be so bad. If he had suggested RSD, I would have researched it. Dummy ME!!! After surgery is when I finally went on line & researched burning pain & RSD kept coming up again & again as the only thing it could be. By then the podiatrist had sent me to a PM Doctor. He dx'ed me after I asked if that is what I had....he said I do believe it is what you have, & here I am.........But point is I would NEVER have had surgery...........my right foot has gotten worse over the years but still not as bad as the left. Now this new 'stuff' happening Probably what is called full body flares. I never had an injury to have caused this to happen in my feet either unless wacking one against a door frame & the other against a box several months before it started.......but to wake one morning & have both of them sending off the burn is such a coincidence.

Ack all well...........sorry to have gotten into ramblin' here..................

Hopefully he will come around, some doctors have such 'issues' about their integrity when it isn't even about them..........know what I mean??? Good luck again as I said before...............

Debby
