Anyone for coccyx pain!?

for the last 8 months i have been getting extreme tenderness after sitting down....typically the tenderness/pain happens immediately after sitting for a period of time - if im sitting on a nice soft sofa then i dont get it - just if im sitting on a seat with thin padding, or no padding at all. I dont seem to feel the pain until i shift position or get up. I must look like a little odd gripping my coccyx as i stand up - its not like it stops the pain or anything!!

does anyone else with tos suffer from lower back problems like this?....just wondering if it can be related to it in anyway as i already know (my physio picked it up) that i have a tendancy to protect my right hand side by twisting my neck slightly towards my right - which is causing muscle tension on the base left side of my neck and then causing occipital headace on that side. My physio has also said my whole right side is out of whack as my right leg muscles operate differently to my left side - i have stopped seeing her so cant ask her anymore on this topic.

Just wondering if this is something commonly found amongst us - or is it just me!!

hope your all as well as you can be

woahhhhh its so wierd that you mention this, because i had this bad for a period of time when i was young i couldnt sit at all, and both my sisters and mom had it at teh same time, and now every once in a while we all get bouts of it, so it like comes and goes randomly. but yeah i definitely get that and we all thought it was just us because we never heard of anyone else have that problem...its really weird

i dont think its tos related because i am the only one of the 3 of us that has tos but the only thing we all have in common is like reproductive issues like pcos and irregular periods. do you have anything like that? maybe something like that causes it? hmmmm verrry interesting

I only had tailbone pain after birth of kid #3, he was facing the wrong way - face up?? -not breech though and his head bruised or cracked my tail bone.
Not a fun thing at all.:(

Totally have that pain. Think its a combination of things. First I think when my shoulders and neck area are spasmed up it just pulls on those hips and pelvic area.

Second I think all the sitting and desk job I do doesn't help, plus my posture is not that good. When I get up and walk around or stretch on my foam roler its better.

Third I did badly bruise my tailbone years ago when I tried snowboarding for the first time. What can I say the ski instructor was hot.

Last my gyn did dx me with something called pelvic dysfunction. Its a very real thing and happens to both men and women. As we age the pelvic floor gets weak. The pelvic floor is very important in posture and aligment. I actually have a constantly spasm'd levator ani muscle that pulles on my tailbone. There is a great book called a headache in the pelvis that has helped me with this and given me exercises to do.

I had real bad issues w/ coccyx pain about 4 years ago, and it rears :D its ugly head from time to time. Mine came from a pilonidal cyst that I finally had removed (probably TMI). I found something like THIS and it made a huuuuuge difference. I like the memory foam one better than the one I got a walgreens.
