Anyone use "Real EASE" (or other Therapeutic Neck Support) or over the door traction?

I've been contemplating buying a cervical tension tool OR a traction unit...
The real EASE looks like this:

Wondering what the opinions are from those who use any of these :Ponder:

I recall someone was posting about trying one , but it was years ago and I can't recall the members name..
she hasn't posted for a long time.

you might try a forum search on the name of it, but it might have been posted about back on the BT site...

I always wonder is a set shape will fit me as an individual...

have you tested the general idea with firmly rolled towel?

someone used to let their head hang over the side of their bed for a gravity /traction action.

of course make sure no neck spinal issues before trying those things.

i have had my real ease for about 7 months & still use it every day. it helps bring temporary relief to my neck and shoulder and helps support my head. i have weak neck muscles, so it's a real comfort to have that support.

traction & neck ease

i use a rolled up towel which i imagine has a similar effect.

when you say over the door traction it reminds me of the over the door pulleys i used to use to unglue my shoulder. after seeing what other people do easily in yoga, and i can't, i am considering dusting it off (providing i can find it in storage).

For years I have had a cervical traction device that works well, but I have to lay on the floor (flat, firm surface). I can't see the tv from that angle and I can't hold my arms up to read a book, so it's boring. Plus, just getting on and off the floor adds to my pain. It is to big and bulky to easily take with me when I go out....and I wouldn't want to lay on the floor in a store or similar place. That unit was similar to this: http://www.lgmedsupply.com/cetr.html

Last year I purchased a portable version that I love ! If I'm in a store, friend's house etc I can use it sitting in a chair. This is the new one that I highly recommend: http://www.lgmedsupply.com/ponethdel.html

That company, lgmedical, has great prices on TENS units and stuff too.

I have used the over-door-neck traction device for a neck injury, but it didn't help me. I now use an inversion table for relief. It helps (but it aggravates my lower back injury sometimes). Would the inversion table potentially help my daughter who has TOS? I never thought of neck traction for her.

Hi Prudence,

Welcome ,
I see you have a thread here so I'll go read it-

I don't know if this counts, but I bought an inverter, whole body, and it actually made my pain rise. I was going to try it again, and take it short, take notes, and see what the result.

Dr. Annest told me that if traction to the neck makes the pain worse, then that is a sign of TOS. But I would think that pulling those muscles longer would make less pain, and more room, for veins and stuff.

I am confused, as always, by neuro TOS

I was thinking about trying one a couple yrs ago.

I think it is another one of those things that we each have different causes and sx and it may or may not help..
If you can borrow or find a cheap one it might be worth a try but I wouldn't buy a spendy one and find out it didn't help.
Unless they let you return it...:)

I'm thinking with swelling problems it might not be a good thing... more fluids to the upper body...
