carbamazepine for migraine

hi all

has anyone had experience with carbamazepine for migraine( tegretol ) I also have partial sleep epilepsy from TBI with chronic daily migraine and have been prescribed this. it would seem to fit the bill, but I am worried it may further compromise my cognition

but I would be grateful for your input
