Antioxidants
I recall reading something about taking antioxidants to help control inflammation. Can anyone suggest some good ones that have worked for you? Thanks :)

I use grapeseed extract 300mg a day.
And I just switched from fish oil (which is a good anti-inflammatory) to the new Krill oil, which is more potent and has an antioxidant in it already. I am using MegaRed brand. Vitamin C works to reduce the inflammation protein called C-reactive protein. There are Ester Cs now with citrus bioflavinoids in them so you get more effect. I use one a day of these. One 500mg combo of this is enough for most people. There are many other antioxidants out there, you can find with a Google search. I just tend to think these are the best and have the most studies done on them. |

The best anti-oxidants I take are R-Lipoic Acid, CoQ10, and PQQ. I like how CoQ10 recycles and regenerates other antioxidants such as Vit-E and Vit-C, so I take them all together. According to Dr. Lester Packer, who studied antioxidants for 35 years, RLA is more potent than vitamins C and E, and CoQ10, and may, in fact, be the most important antioxidant ever discovered. That was until PQQ. "Unlike other antioxidants, the exceptional molecular stability of PQQ allows it to carry out thousands of electron transfers without undergoing molecular breakdown. “PQQ is 30 to 5,000 times more efficient in sustaining redox cycling (mitochondrial energy production) . . . than other common [antioxidant compounds], e.g. Ascorbic Acid (Vitamin C).” The question is: What are correct therapeutic doses? I'm not sure anyone can know unless their cell membranes have been tested. If they are shot, they'll leak like a sieve. |
In addition to those already mentioned, N-acetyl cysteine (NAC) is another, fairly well-studied with numerous benefits.
