Anyone know of good crps doc in or around Iowa

I am currently looking for a new crps dr. tired of them pushing no pain pills. or scs. or no treatment. So im on the prowl again. IF anyone knows of a good pain dr please let me know..will travel, but not too far..I have called Kirkpatrick, but i cant go there as of yet.. wc has to pay for bills before i go so i can afford it..its going to be costly of a trip for me. and very draining of a drive. i can do minnesota, missouri..kansas if need and also Illinois. and Nebraska.just tired of suffering. thanks

Hi I don't have a specific name but wanted to suggest you find a teaching hospital that has an anestesolgist/pain clinic and explaing your condition and if they have a doc who deals with rsd. Good luck I know the frustration

thats where i went to at first. Then they really couldnt help me. The blocks didnt work, and they didnt believe in strong pain killers. Other than for terminal patients. Which im not. So im looking again for pain control.

Hi Barbara,

My personal care physician, who has known me for close to 20 years, writes all my pain meds. Not my PM doc. When I had my shoulder surgeries I got my meds from my ortho. But after I got diagnosed with RSD, my PCP was the one who helped me the most.

I know that my Boston doc can't write me a script for a narcotic because he's in a different state. I wouldn't be able to fill a Massachusetts script at my RI pharmacy.

Good luck. XOXOX Sandy

Have you been to a rheumatologist and had a complete work-up? I needed to have that done before some docs would take me seriously, especially since I have a twin sister with RA and Lupus.

The reason I ask is because often a positive response to a block is one of the ways that RSD is diagnosed. Since your pain didn't abate at all, maybe your docs are thinking you don't have RSD. Of course, maybe your docs aren't that good at doing the blocks, and missed the spot...or your pain is already sympathetically independent and isn't going to respond to a block.

Have you requested a copy of all of your reports from your treating physicians to date? Why don't you see what has been diagnosed so far?

Good luck, Sandy

i had 2 days worth of relief after the blocks. That was it.. So my dr didnt feel the need to do them any longer. He also tried a beir block, which gave me relief as long as the arm was numb. He just worked in a setting where they dont DO meds that are "narcotics" unless i am terminal.. or cancer he said.. He is actually leaving the hospital next month, so either way i am up the creek without a paddle.. I just want someone to help me.. Not nessaceraliy(spelled that wrong) with narcotics. but some pain relief, lyrica alone wont do it.
