Depends on what he means by "active."

The interviewee seemed to take great pride in the fact that he continued to work until India's mandatory retirement age. Depending on what his job was, when he was diagnosed, and what symptoms (psychological or physical) were more prominent for him. Some are too disabling to continue to work while others are inconvenient, but allow work to continue.

As far calling "active" a hobby, define active. I play music in a group, would if I didn't have PD. I ride a bike, walk a dog, do housework. Are these activities or hobbies? I would do them if I had PD or not. Can't say the phrase "My hobby is to stay active" makes much sence to me.

I guess what he means is that

as the pd progress, staying alive and active becomes a challenge and yea a hobby of kinds..
this apply to many of us who spend a good part of our time reading, analysing and thinking about our malady !

Are these figures correct.....

What surprised me about this report is that it says that 8-9% of people in India have PD - is it not usually a percentage of people over the age of ..... ? This seems incredibly high........ can anybody clarify?

On the other hand it is good that this report was made for World Parkinsons Day.

Many people have exercise as a hobby, I see no conflict, I should do more myself, so mowed the lawn today! First time for the year, and it's lovely and warm.....

I agree with this guy

I think "keeping active", however individually defined, is absolutely the best hobby and best way to live well with Parkinson's!

i think most of us parkies would prefer being active. hard to do when the body is not working due to pd and/or meds. i would change the word "hobby" to "habit" though as many find themselves in front of the puter far too long after the meds kick in.

Logic or illogic?

My main hobby is to remain active.
Today I was active cleaning carpets.
Therefore; my main hobby is cleaning carpets.
