seizure disorder and headaches
 

I apologize if this has been discussed in the past, but I am 16 months out from my initial seizure and have only had one other while switching meds. At the time of the seizure I also suffered a head injury. I have had headaches every day since the accident. I am trying to determine if the headaches are coming from the head injury or if it possible that the headaches are related to the seizure disorder. Has anyone had headaches that have lasted months from a seizure disorder?

I have had headaches after seizures but never one that has lasted for months, it could be possible that you had a concussion and that is what's causing your headache and it may have also caused your seizures.
A few yrs. ago I was in an auto accident and my head slammed into the windshield this caused post concussive syndrome that lasted 4 months or longer. Every day I would have wicked headaches, I had many more seizures, and my memory got worse. My Dr. put me on Neurontin but that caused me to have severe status seizures so I went off the drug and within time I found that the headaches stopped and seizures decreased. If you do have a concussion the brain is swollen and that's what's causing the headaches and possilbly the seizures. You should look into having an MRI done if you haven't had one done yet and see your neuro. I wish you the best of luck and May God Bless You!

My first ever seizure landed me in the emergency room. While there, I had another seizure, but the bed rail was not up. When I seized, I fell out of bed and landed on my head. I think my headaches are related to the fall and not the underlying seizure disorder. I am on medication for my seizures and have not had one for a year and that was only because I was switching meds and had a breakthrough seizure.

I've had many seizures when changing AED's (meds) this is always normal and it can be a pain for some people.
If you fell out of bed while at the hospital and you are now having headaches and more seizures the hospital should be liable for all of this. If I were in your place I would speak to a lawyer and make sure that the hospital pays for all the medical bills and any other possible medical problems since they didn't put the rail up on the bed. Eeekk, I'm changing meds right now. I hope I don't have a seizure problem.)

I am in the middle of a lawsuit right now. The hospital isn't disputing the fact that they screwed up with the bed thing, but the question is how much do they pay for pain and suffering. They are trying to blame the headaches on an underlying seizure disorder. That is why I am asking whether people with seizures have ever had constant headaches (every day) from their seizure meds. I was on Keppa at first, and then switched to Lamictal. I have not had any problems while on the Lamictal. I know that headaches can be one of the side effects. I don't know why I am trying to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that all of the things going on now are related to the fall and not the seizure.

Anyway, there is plenty more that I could say, but will quit now.

If the hospital has admitted they are at fault then you have a strong case. I had a concussion from an auto accident a few yrs. ago and one thing my lawyer told me to do and you should do it also, keep a daily journal of how you feel, describe the headaches, what time they started and stopped, and if you've had any sz. by doing this the lawyer can use this for evidence. Also write down how you felt before all this happening. Did you have headaches like you have now etc.
Often a person will have a headache after a seizure (sz.) but if they have increased it's do to the fall and whatever you do don't pay any of the medical bills make the hospital liable just be sure that if you get any medical bills to save the envelope it came in and write down the date you received it in the mail. I did all of this and I won my case and my lawyer kept my case open for life so if things get worse the other person who hit me is liable.
