Hello fellow MGers!

I feel very fortunate to have found this site!!! I was diagnosed with MG two weeks ago. I am on 60mg of mestinon 3x daily (thinking I should maybe do 4?)

What a frustrating experience so far ... one year for diagnosis ... I went from teaching Martial Arts / backpacking / tournament softball / etc to NOT BEING ABLE TO DO ANYTHING I would fall if I tried to sprint / I went from being a top level hitter to striking out (in slowpitch!!!) eyes drooping / no smile / etc etc. My symptoms came on within a two week period (normal??)

With just two weeks of treatment I feel 1000% better but I wonder if I will ever return to the level I was. I can finally lift weights again / started jogging (wow did cardio go away quick) / close to sprinting / no drooping eyes / actually smile again. I haven't tried hitting yet but plan to this weekend (fingers crossed)

CAT scan for thymus is scheduled ... was told 70% of thymectomies result in complete recovery from MG ... it just goes away!??? I guess this whole thing can just go away as quickly as it came on?? what do any of you think?

I am a K9 Handler (explosives/narcotics) and I have been hiding this whole thing for a year!!! I was very close to retiring early because I knew eventually my safety would be in jeapordy. I finally feel safe again. I know if a "struggle" happens I now have the strength (again) to protect myslef as well as others....WHEW

What a relief to find you all ... LOVE U GUYS already :grouphug:

Joe

Hi, and welcome to NT! This is such a great place with so many friendly, caring, and helpful people.

We're glad you found us!

I'm going to take a shot here and guess that MG is Myasthenia Gravis. Below is a link to the forum. If not, let me know and I or someone else would be happy to direct you where you need to go.
