confused someone please help....

Im not quite sure if I am in the right place!!!! My name is Jennifer I am 20 and in the Army. When I was in basic training I got dropped off a tower about 35 ft. When I fell I hit my legs twice on the different levels of the tower. Now a year later I still have swelling, stress fractures, numbness, tingling, pain and a lot of other weird symptons. I have been going to physical therapy and they had mentioned something about compartment syndrome or possibly RSD. My legs hurt every day and I feel like I have no direction or answers does anyone know anything about either of the two? Also I go in next Friday for Electromyography and nerve conduction studies??? I dont even know what to expect or what this is going to help. They told me not to shave my legs until then and i cant have nail polish on my toes when I go in. Anyone know why??? Or have any advice for me? Im driving myself crazy and making myself anxious trying to figure out what is wrong with me.

Hi Jennifer !

Welcome to NT :Wave-Hello:

I am SO very sorry you are dealing with this issue!!
This must be very frustrating for you!
I'm sorry that I do not know anything about 'compartment syndrome', but maybe someone else will come by and help you with that....

We do have a very active RSD forum here......this is the direct link to click on
to get you there:

http://neurotalk.psychcentral.com/fo...aysprune=&f=21

I sure hope you can get some answers!
Another way to find specific information is by using the 'search' key at the top of the page.....just type in key words and it'll do a search here at the forums and posts will pop up of previous discussions.....
Maybe try typing in 'compartment syndrome'.....

Again, I'm very sorry about your battle, but you will soon find that everyone here is very very helpful and caring :grouphug:

Sounds like you are going thru lots ....

..you don't understand? First off start out w/this neuro site...
http://www.neuroexam.com/content.php?p=2

Then think...most neuro issues are either trauma [maybe?], illness [less likely] or inherited..[least likely]. Doesn't take a rocket surgeon to guess? that it's trauma? Therefore this other site is useful to boot:
http://www.aafp.org/afp/980215ap/poncelet.html
This is useful when you look at the 'charts' and the paths diagnosis can take due to what you tell your docs and how they go from there in TESTING for your issues.
Since I got an auto-immune neuropathy? All I can say is be grateful it's only your legs? At times I wanted to....well, won't go into that..but you likely know what I mean. You likely have damage? Tho to what extent and to which degree anyone in the MILITARY will admit to? Different kettle of fish...
IF it were ME? I would ask for copies of all medical reports to get to take for a second or even third OUTSIDE opinion! The sooner you get properly diagnosed and treated, the less long term damages there can be... I've been there more than once? It's not easy? But the alternatives are unacceptable.
Let us all know how you are doing, and don't be shy about questions! We all have gotten here from a lot of different directions. So we all see this 'differently' from each other, yet? We get along. Hugs 's - j
