you know what annoys me?
When I check my email yahoo news pops up with their top 5 stories of the day. What is the top story today you ask? Amy Winehouse fell down at home and bruised her ribs. Boo Hoo. Maybe she tripped over a crack pipe.
I'm sorry, I have MS. I fall down all of the time and bruise all kinds of things but because I am not some crack head who had ONE album before getting all cracked out and sending my life into a downward spiral, it is not news worthy. We have men and women over seas fighting a war and getting killed to protect our freedoms (freedom of the press included), so I am a little annoyed that my top news story is that this woman fell down. That just annoys me to no end. It's like the Brett Michaels brain aneurysim story that was the top story 2 days ago. That was at least news worthy, but again, if you did as many drugs at this guy did, you would expect to have some issues too. |
I care more about one of us falling than Amy Winehouse. And the story of
"Poor" Gwyneth Paltrow having a hard time gaining weight for a role, well, bite me. |
Amen and Amen!
Not to sound cold, but does the world really need to know if Lindsay Lohan is done partying? Does anyone care if Kate Goslyn (sp?) is back in Pennsylvania? I feel bad for Bret Michaels, because a brain bleed of unknown origins is a terrible, scary thing...As for the rest, puleeeeze.:rolleyes: |
Bret Michaels never did drugs. He's been a type 1 diabetic since he was a child. People saw him giving himself shots of insulin and thought it was heroin.
I dont think he could have controlled his diabetes while strung out on heroin. He'd have been dead years ago if he'd tried that. But yeah, his health problems this past week have been newsworthy. At least as a reminder that if anyone ever has a headache they'd classify as "the worst headache they've ever had" that they should head directly for a doctor or an emergency room. Because sometimes a headache is more than just a headache. |
I agree. Who really cares about the comings and goings of Lindsay or if Kate went to the grocery store???
The media is getting really out of hand, IMO. They report everything. The older I get the less important the trivial stuff they report seems to me. It's annoying when there are such important things going on in our society that affect us all......yet it seems we all need to know when Jon and Kate have a tiff. :rolleyes: What really irks me is when these so-called "celebrities" complain about the photographers and reporters that follow them around. :mad: They don't complain when they receive the big paycheck. The constant media attention is just part of the deal. I hope they annoy the tar out of them! :cool: |
Actually Erin that's not true. He was a notorious coke snorting alcoholic in the 80's who got into all kinds of trouble. It was the drunken brawl backstage at the 92 MTV awards that he ended up in rehab, which was when the band split up. It was after he sobered up that he discovered he was diabetic and then eventually the band got back together.

Lead story on my hotmail news clips the other day;
Man held over allegations of having sex with a horse. Bail was refused as he had no stable address. :D Honestly, you couldn't make that up! |

The problem with the media covering these unimportant stories is that people READ THEM!!
If we don't click on them, they won't get the numbers!! We don't see coverage of class sizes in schools climbing to astronomical numbers due to teacher layoffs...or people visiting the ER in droves due to losing health care coverage after getting pinked slipped. Who wants to read about what's really going on in our nation? NO ONE!!:mad: I'm done ranting... |
I agree that celebrities get far too much attention. In fact I don't follow them at all even though everybody and his dog is talking about them.
But brain aneurysms have no connection with the type of life you've been leading. They just happen and may have some connection with high blood pressure but even that isn't known for sure. |
