Surgical sites are burning
I had my SCS battery fixed about 4 weeks ago. The doctor thought the burning would go away after a couple weeks. The sites are burning like they are on fire. they are very sensitive and I cannot stand for my shirt to touch them. But whats a girl to do can't go topless. I feel like the RSD has spread to surgical sites. But where my foot gets cold and super sensitive this is hot burning sensitive. Anybody have these symptons with there RSD. Didn't know if it is possible to have both in two different parts. I have an appointment in two weeks to decide whether to remove it or not. It hurts all the time cause the battery is sticking out and the skin is super sensitive and I can not stand to put the lidoderm patch on it. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Hi.
I had SCS surgery which will be 2 years ago in November, so 1.5 years. It took a long time for the burning to go away totally. There are times now that I still have burning and, more specifically, itching around the battery. Yes, I have the hot burning on the left side of my face. I have RSD which started in my left arm. My SCS can't reach my face. I would talk with your doctor about getting a lidoderm cream to put around the area. It'll hurt to put it on, but hopefully it'll cool the burning. Good luck. |
I have had the 1st surgery for my scs back in 2006 and I haven't ran it for over a year now because they can't get it programmed to work right. I found out about 8 months to a year ago that the leads in my neck area from my scs of coarse are crooked. the last time they tried to reprogram me before they found out that the leads were crooked everytime she tried to reprogram it it felt like she was burning my spine. It hurt like the dickens. When they found out that they were crooked they told me not to run my scs until wc will approve of me to get the leads replaced. I have yet to get the approval, but with everything I here about the problems of spread after surgeries no matter what they are for I am scared.I have had the thought cross my mind that instead of getting the leads replaced maybe a better idea is to just get it taken out.Does anyone have any opinions on what might be the best thing for me? I am scared sorry.
Sincerely, Tracy |
