Overcounter Med for Tingling?
I am out of my Lyrica that I use for nerve pain and tingling. Of course, the pharmacy is closed til Monday.
Anyone know if there is something OTC that would give me some relief? Thank you! |
i doubt it.
just a word of advice. i'd check with your dr about OTC's and supplements, herbs etc. some can react with medications you take. and there are some that are not recommended if you have an immune system disease. you might call your pharmacy and see if they will give you a day or two to get you thru to monday. i hope this helps a bit. |
Yes, you should have the pharmacy give you a few to avoid any withdrawal symptoms.
Sorry, just read your pharmacy is closed. Can you get a hold of your doctor to call in a script to a pharmacy that is open? |
You need to be careful. If you are taking lyrica on a daily basis, you should not just stop taking it.

I agree with the rest of you here. I should think your doc could call in a script to the local hospital pharmacy-those are open 24/7.
I've stopped taking most OTC stuff, mostly because I was at the time taking a lot of rx and just didn't want to add more pills to my regamine. But it sure would be nice to think there was something for nerve pain that was easily available. Good luck and feel better soon. |
F2U, some pharmacies have an emergency number on their door. If you are a regular buyer with them, they might open their door and give you a few pills from your next prescription and not run it through their system until Monday when you get the full bottle of pills.
Just a thought. Or they might even be able to call another associated Pharmacy that will fill it for you. Unless it is a chain store Pharmacy, then they are all closed on the weekend. Some have Saturday hours until a certain time. Maybe do some telephone calling. Were you taking Lyrica on a regular basis or as needed..did you start it just recently? I have heard then some people do it that way. Any Neurontin in the house? Perhaps your doctor will allow that drug to be used for a few days. I hope you find some answers. Any friends or family who could lend you a few until Monday? I am just trying to think of some ways for you to get what you need. I wish you luck with this Friend.:) |
If your pharmacy is like mine, when my last script of Clonazepam (Klonopin) ran out, they filled another full bottle on good faith that I've filled that prescription time and time again there, but even then, they can pull my records at any store in their 'network' to see my medication history.
I hope you've been able to get a refill, or at least a small supply. As others have said, not something you want to just stop taking. |
I'm not sure if it can be done with LKyrica or not but my insurance lets me order my meds at 3 weeks. I can't do it with my Ritalin so that may be the case with the Lyrica. But by ordering my meds at 3 weeks I'm usually never out of a med. Of course as a procrastinator sometimes I don't even order at 4 weeks!
I don't think any of us have answered your question as to whether or not there is an OTC drug you can take. I do't know of one. There are a lot of pharmacies open on weekends that you could go into and sk them. We have Target, Walmart, CVS, Walgreens---all of them are open. |
Feeling Much Better!
I will NEVER run out of the Lyrica again. I just didn't realize what it was going to be like without it. I do know that it is definitely helping with my sx.
Honestly our cash was really depleated until today. I should have just asked the pharmacy if I could pick it up and pay today. I'm sure that would have been fine with them. :( It was a very miserable weekend. But I'm doing better today...back on the meds. Thank you all for your comments and input! I really appreciate it. |
What symptoms were you using the Lyrica for that it was working for you?
I've had some fairly impressive neurological pain over the weekend. (I'm in a flaming flare from Hell, and I know this isnt the worst that it can get...just the worst I've experienced yet) I have a Lyrica prescription, I just havent filled it because of the cost. (It wasnt even prescribed for this flare, but for a bad case of tennis elbow and a minor flare in my left arm last fall) I may have to fill that Rx tomorrow. |
