Possible Sleep Apnea

I went to the er for pain with my RSD and When they gave me pain meds and I started sleeping My pulse ox dropped and the alarm went off several times. Each time they had to come wake me and tell me to take deep breaths. Every time after surgery when coming out of anastesia(spelling?) the have to do the same thing after removing my oxygen. Anybody have any suggestions the nurse said it seemed I had sleep apnea. Thanks for any input!

If I was in your situation I would see a neurologest, to be schelude for testing. This is where you go into (I went there and stayed over night) and as you are sleeping they will test to see if you are breathing properly. I have slept for about 3 years with a machine and breathing is alot better.

Hope I help out some. Do let me or any of the others here if you have any more questions. I have you in my thoughts and prayers.

Darlene's advice is good, or you could mention it to your local doctor/GP? They could refer you on to a Pulmonary (lung) Specialist who does this type of testing.

You may have sleep apnea. It is often noted by professionals in such cases when some extra sleep meds are on board. You should see a specialist because sleep apnea is sometimes complicated with obstruction, decreased nervous system drive to breathe (central), or both.
