Question about smilie

I was baffled by the "hug" smilie  because I couldn't see anything that even resembled a hug. It looked like the pinkish smilie was about to give the greenish smilie a punch in the chops. Then today I happened to use Firefox instead of Internet Explorer and lo and behold, the smilie moves, reaches over and hugs the other smilie! So now I finally get it, but that leaves me with the question, why didn't it move when I used IE? Has anyone else noticed the same thing, or is it just a quirk of the settings on my IE?

Hiya Lois
it must be settings on your IE cos I use it (IE7 on my main computer and IE6 on my laptop) and the smilie is moving and hugging just fine:hug:       :D

My Smilies

Hi - my smilies don't move either. I have seen this mentioned before and didn't think too much about it. Here it is again, though. I am using IE7. I wonder if it is just a setting somewhere in maybe properties.

I use IE7, too. I just shut down and restarted my computer to see if that would help the situation, but nothing! If someone can figure out what needs to be reset, or changed, I'd really appreciate it. You really lose a lot of meaning in the smilies when they don't move.

Well, I think I've solved it. I went into the accelerator program (Bellsouth Accelerator) and changed the setting from maximum to low acceleration. The smilies started to work! I'm going to try different speeds of accelaration and see when the cut-off is that "disables" the smilies, but apparently for mine the problem was the accelerator. dlshaffer, do you use dial up with an accelerator like I do?
Hugs  ,

Well, now I don't know if that was it or not. I went all the way back up to maximum, and it still works. Well, whatever I did, I got it working!
