hallucinations

My mother-in-law had back surgery in April and ever since then has been having severe hallucinations. Can her meds be causing this? We can't seem to get any consistent answers for this. Thank you

Yes, drugs can do it. Often the elderly are given things that add up and some doctors are basically clueless.

This older post has some information on it.

You can post her drug heres and I'll check them out.
Opiates are the main cause of delirious behavior. But other common drugs can do it too. (Zantac or Pepcid for example).

The fluoroquinolone antibiotics will do it too..in the elderly.
(Cipro, Avelox and Levaquin are examples).

It is really awful to watch a family member get this way. You have my greatest sympathy.
