My story of soap
Soap is thought to have originated very long ago, and was routinely made in the very early Roman times. It is thought that some primitive person figured out that ashes and fat, made a compound that cleaned things....hence, lye + oils=soap. Add some fancy smellin' stuff and a nice package and sell to people with money to spend.
Ok, so I have made 100+ bars of soap....many batches, or organic sustainable soap....boutique stuff, I guess. Has gotten good reviews....I make shampoo and shaving bars too, to get rid of plastic containers, and shaving cans.:stirthepot: I had a request for citronella soap, as an insect repellent... I am SOOOO eager to please.............:) So, I made a 4' (that is foot) long mold of it..... It is curing now, outgassing is more like it...has been for 2 weeks.....4 more to go.....LORD, if I never smell citronella again, it will be too soon...:( Not a bug in my house.........I suppose that is good. |
Wowee, that's interesting. Never knew you had to "cure" soap!!!
Thanks for the daily smile. |
It's like fine wine....but you can't eat it it or drink it.:p
If you use it too soon, you get bitten by lye. |

Here is another one.
Chickens have 21 give or take a few, vocalizations. Mother hens can hear the sounds of chicks inside their eggs and roll the less mature ones to the center of the nest so they get warmer and mature faster. I heard a very loud excited peeping coming from the chick room. I went in and counted them and there were 15.....one is missing..... I look under the bed, thinking, hmmm, they flew out of the big box (it is 2 feet high)....unlikely, but you never know....no bird. OK....well, the dogs can't get in there....hmm, where is chickie number 16? I go look in the box, and in there is the yellow plastic bowl in which I have food....overturned. So I figure they need more food. I pick up the bowl, and under there is chick number 16! Phew! Kind of like a shell game! Which bowl has the chick under it. I am still wondering how they accomplished this without thumbs. I can't do much without mine! |
