Drug Study for Diabetes-related PN
Just saw this and did a quick search here with no hits. But if this has been previously discussed, admins are welcome to delete this post.

Not to put too fine a point on it--
--but I am always wary of situations such as this in which the clinical trial is advertised in a very slick way by a pharmaceutical company without a very detailed explanation of the drug to be tested or the protocol right up front--it shouldn't have to take a person multiple clicks to get any useful info.
I realize pharma companies have to test their products, but I'd feel more comfortable if this was obviously affiliated with a non-profit/ university/governmental partner. |
Very good point, glenntaj. It smelled markety to me too, but I put it up here anyway in case any of you had the scoop on it.
I figure that at the very least, maybe somebody is developing/has developed something that is specifically aimed at PN. But then again, they might just be renaming an old drug for a new purpose, e.g. Wellbutrin-->Zyban. Could be one of the many antidepressants or anticonvulsives that we already know about. |
I did a Whois Domain search for that website and it is owned by a corporation that works for drug companies. Acurian, Inc. which is ANOTHER glitzy place.
Still no info on what the drug is. Could be the long acting gabapentin? Or something new... secret secret! This is a website with "some" new drugs...but not all.. http://www.diabetesmonitor.com/newdrugs.htm and this one: http://www.news-medical.net/?tag=/Diabetic+Neuropathy |
