Carnitine Deficiency
 

I've been diagnosed with Small Fiber Neuropathy over a year ago, and the symptoms (e.g. severe burning all over the body, etc.) have gotten even worse lately. About a week and a half ago my neurologist sent me for yet another bunch of blood tests.
He just called to tell me that I am quite low in carnitine. Has anyone had this? Can a deficiency in carnitine cause symptoms of neuropathy? I guess at this point anything is possible. I've just completely lost hope of finding a way to help me with this intense pain 24/7 and am kind of hoping that this carnitine deficiency is the cause of this unbearable pain.

Any thoughts?

Yes, Carnitine levels may impact or create PN. This is because Carnitine is used by mitochondria in cells for metabolism and energy. It carries fatty acids to be "burned" as fuel.
