Pinched nerve/muscle spasms

Thanx to the bulging discs in my neck, I've a pinched nerve in my left shoulder. For the last two days, I've had major muscle spasms in my neck and shoulders. It's a struggle to lie down in bed, and darn near impossible to get up. I hate to sleep on my back, but it's the most comfortable position right now.

On a scale of 1 to 10, 10 being the worst, I'm sitting at 7.5, maybe 8.

I'm calling for an appointment first thing tomorrow morning. I've done PT, for over a year, and I hate taking meds all the time.

I'm going to explore other venues, including surgery. I've got to do something here.

Hi Johnnyhay, and welcome to Neurotalk! I assume you have fibro and that's why you posted in this particular forum?

I have the same problem in my neck, however...I SO wish I could remember what my massage therapist (also a registered nurse and very well trained when it comes to fibro) said to me! I'll ask her when I see her Thursday. It had something to do with that particular problem with the neck going into the shoulder causing spasms.

I wonder how many other fellow fibromates have this same problem. I'll be sure and ask her. Do you know if you have any massage therapists in your area trained to work with fibro? If they are good, they are worth their weight in gold!

Again, welcome to you!

Hi Johnnyhays

Not sure if I can help you or not. But I was kind of in the same spot.
I had lots of pain and a bulging disc. Trouble in my neck.

It ended up taking surgery with the shots to get mine under control.

Hopefully you can get into a pain doctor soon.

Well, I did check with my massage therapist about that commonality in fibro people. Now if I can just remember all of it, LOL.

I think she knows someone who does thermography. That person said that they see a common thread with fibro people and it is the 2nd thoracic vertebrae and the path of pain from that place. I know mine is always sore. Anyone else in here have more than normal tenderness/pain at that spot in their spine?

thoracic pain

I have fibromyalgia 20 plus years I always had pain in one spot upper thoracic area. This past year it became unbearable.I hadmri which showed pinched nerve.
I have had 3 cortisone injections and 12 weeks of physical therapy onlyslight improveme:t
The lastshot gave 50% relief. The paindoctor was going toinject againto seeif he could get better results since I responded to that shot.
I had to put it onhold I have pinched nerve inflow back and that was causing such badfoot pain I opted for shot in lowback.
This is the worst pain Ihave ever had in 20 years.

Chiropractic adjustments may help. Have you tried any traction in your therapy? Maybe fish oil, garlic, and other biomedical anti-inflammatory supplements may give you relief. Bio freeze, Epsom-salt baths are many times helpful in relieving aches and pain. Soaking in a warm epson salt bath for 20minutes may really help. Yours in health,

Rndawn10:)
