TBI, Migraines

My husband was involved in a freak at home accident approx. two years ago August. He was in the hospital for three days. He was diagnosed with Post Concussion Syndrome.
Just recently he had a debilitating headache Sunday and finally allowed us to take him to the ER Tuesday where they admitted him and kept him until Friday. Sent him home with Darvacet every 4 hours, Topimax twice a day, Prozac 20mg a day, Gabipenton, and Ambien at night so he sleeps which he has not in quite some time. I am not all certain on the spellings sorry.

The headache has always been there but the medications he took had it so he could function. Sunday it just laid him out. He was dillusional, severe pain, said he saw spots, then couldn't see out of his right eye. Then he said he felt electrical shocks from teh right side of his head where he was origionally hit across the top to the left side. He also said it felt as if someone was driving a spike into the top of his scull.

In the hosptial they gave him morphine and w/in 20 minutes or so he could function to a point. But you could so tell when the meds where off. His pupils are dialated, he's rocking back and forth in a lot of pain, cannot walk unassisted. It's just so painful to watch, let alone go through it.

All his tests came back clear. An EEG, EKG, Brain scan, MRI, Cat scan, contract MRI, blood work galor. They are saying this is being brought on by stress. Could it really be? Is there not any other tests they can do?

I am at a loss as to what to do anymore. Can anyone recommend any pain medication for the constant headaches and the migranes? Any neurologists or pain Dr. recomendations? We live in the Utica, Syracuse area.

Thank you.

I believe the symptoms that you have noted could easily be stress after
having a headache for a extended time. I would also guess he has had
other issues without telling you.

I also know that the topamax and gabapentin should help with the headache
and some of the other issues. I don't know for sure about all the other medications.

I would look for a pain medicine doctor first to make sure that he has a
good one. I would then also get a good neurologist to keep a eye on
these type of issues. It sounds a lot like these kind of things also.

But it could just be issues from the concussion.
