Antibiotics and MS question

So the doc thinks the TY wiped out the antibiotics I was on last week to treat a UTI, which is still here. And today we discover I have strep throat...for the 57th time since I was 3. Needless to say I am on another round of stronger antibiotics.

And then he prescribed something else that I am questioning. When I am done with the current antibiotics, I am supposed to start a nightly dose of Macrdantin; which is an antiboitic used to help prevent UTIs in people who keep getting them.

I questoin this because: it is my understanding that TY, like the DMDs is used to try to suppress your immune system. Wouldn't taking antibiotics every day have the opposite effect? He wrote me a prescript for a 4 month supply of this stuff so it looks like I am expected to take this for a while.

I am so confused.

Jim takes Macrobid and does fine with his Beta. He takes 100mgs a day to prevent UTI's. So far no UTI in about two years and no progression of his ms or other issues from it.
