OK, what's wrong with me?

I am just so exhausted. This doesn't feel like my normal MS fatigue. Sometimes my hips on down really hurt and it's hard to get them going. Once they are going, they are OK, just slow. I feel my brain is in a fog. Maybe it's all the new shows I am watching now. I watched Kidnapped tonight, I think it's going to be a keeper. And Prison break is just tearing me up. I sleep fitfully at night and wake up several times. I try to take a nap and can't. After I eat, I still feel just as hungry and never feel satisfied. I just feel like **********. the only medicine change I have had is my Melatonin. I was taking CVS Melatonin and now I'm taking some I got from Sam's It's Melatonin plus. The plus is 25 mg Theanine, whatever that ids

I did a search on Theanine - it's used for PMS, anxiety, depression and it helps you relax and de-stress.....this might be your problem.

Also, I don't know if your aware but if you have MS Melatonin is not something you should take. The link is to the Rocky Mountain MS Center and Melatonin.

Doydie, I'm sorry you're feeling so poopy. Not Fair.

It could be the change in weather. Sometimes that plays havoc with my MS weary body. I like the cool weather. I just wish it would get here and stay. It's the changing back and forth that sucks.

I stopped taking Melatonin yrs ago, when the unsurity of taking it with MS, hit the fans. It was helping me sleep better. LDN and taking my paxil at night helps. Most times I sleep like a baby.:D

I hope you find a happy balance soon.

Hugs,

Just thought of something. I stopped taking Paxil on my own. I guess I did it cause of all the cost of all my meds. But I didn't taper it or anything. Should I have? I am one lousy nurse.

Geez Louise! Did you get the brain zaps? Not everyone has a bad time coming off of Paxil, but, I'm afraid to take that chance. That could be your problem. Take your Nursey Cap off and put it in the drawer.:D

Take an Asprin and call me in the morning.:D Actually, I'm not kidding. An asprin will help me sleep at night, sometimes. I like asprin...grossly underrated.

I hope you sleep well tonight.

I'm feeling much better today. I slept all day. I have had a very hectic long week since my Mom had her pacemaker put in last Thursday and then redone on Friday. Because of a terrible back, my sister were her primary caregivers over the weekend. It was extremely difficult to get her up and down from chair to bathroom and then from commode back to chair. As soon as her home health nurse saw her early Monday morning, she immediately got her a home health aide three times a week. But the damage to my energy had already been done. Tomorrow I will call my neuro and ask her about Melatonin and MS

Hi Doydie,
several days have passed now. How are you feeling? It could be connected to pms junk, additional stress, the melatonin. I took it very briefly years ago and decided it was not good for my personal make up. It could just be part of the odd visiting yuckies that come and go with m.s.

Sleep probs are very common. And once you allow the fatigue issue to rear its head you have double the trouble. You may want to try resting mid day for an hour or two to recharge your batteries. I do not mean sleeping but just laying down and reading a magazine or a book. I hope you are feeling better. m

Feeling a little better. I am now back at Curves, was able to go three times this week. It exhausted me but made feel better also. But I think I'm coming down with a sinus infection, or maybe it's just the change in weather. A sinus infection would be a big bummer at this time. Here in Evansville we have an annual Fall Festival. It's the second largest street festival, Mardi Gras being the first. For seven full days, you can have absolutely any food, carnival rides, games of chance. Then there are the nightly talent shows, middle school tug of wars, beauty contest, pet parade, lighthouse parade, big parade. You gain weight just smelling the air. I want to feel good!!!!! I have to be able to go to Curves three times next week to offset the food.

My psychiatrist took me off Melatonin about 6 years ago. Said no one with MS or an overactive immune system should be on it as it can stimulate it further. I have to admit, I started feeling more energy within the month after stopping it. Is that maybe what is going on? Does your doc know you're on OTC Melatonin?

doydie 10-02-2006 11:37 PM

Cherie, she does not know I was on it. Last night i stopped taking it. I can't say I rested better because of that because I have increased my dose of Tegretol. I have permission to take 3 to 5 a day. I have only been taking three but I have been having such an increase of the pins and needles and electric shock feelings so I am now taking an extra one at bedtime. In the past whenever I increased it, I would feel drowsy for about 8 days. So i think I can count on a good night sleep the next 8 nights at least!!!!
