Vitamins, vitamins, vitamins.
Will they never end? I'm already deep into the mysteries of B-12 (the methylcobalomoline especially -- I spelled that from memory, but the spell-check underline appeared, so I may have forgotten a letter or 2) and planning to stop by the lab later today for a specific Vitamin D test. Vitamin D? Either there is something new in the research or I haven't been paying attention close enough. I currently take a Calcium supplement with 800 units of Vit. D (and what is a unit????). Any help out there? Cowboy. |
When vitamins were discovered, they were measured by what that researcher wanted to do. Vit D is not really a vitamin it is being found out. It is some sort of pro-hormone. Vitamin E is also measured by units, and its conversion is different.(to convert Vit E you multiply the units by .67) And Vit A is in units too. All are fat soluble. (that might be the reason they are all in units).
800IUs is not very much. Typically Vit D is not measured in milligrams, for historical reasons. But the conversion is as follows: 1000 IU equals 25 micrograms. (.025milligrams) So, 50,000 IU is about 1.25 mg. You won't find milligrams on any bottle you buy of Vit D3. |
