The trip....

So I survived. 4 hours in the car to get down to Raligh yesterday. Which was supposed to be Nashville, NC but when I got there and called DH2B's parents to find out where they were (We were meeting halfway) and discovered they had not yet hit 95, I got talked into driving an extra 60 miles south. Still made it there almost an hour before they did so i had to wait. Which turned out to be a good thing. I forced myself to have lunch and take a break. Then another 4 hours back to northern virginia, to unpack car and put stuff away and get ready.

Then dropped Dh2B's DD off with him and drove another hour back south for my best friend's birthday party. Which i would not have missed for the world because she is my best friend and I have not seen her in months, and the whole fam had come down from NY. Of course I only stayed for a couple of hours because I was exhausted! Then drove all the way back home...

I woke up in so much pain this morning that I had to have a side of percocet with my coffee this morning, but it was worth it. Not looking forward to driving back to hanover to pick my MY DD today, but it will be ok. I will now have 2 girls occupying my time for the summer. Wish me luck!

You think you may have overdone things? We all do it; we are feeling good so we go a mile a minute and then pay the next day. :(

I do that all the time and I just multitask and keep telling myself I am wonder woman! :D

Yeah; I am wonder woman alright! I wonder why I keep doing that?

yeah my wonder woman status is usually: I wonder what the H%!! that woman was thinking when she signed up to do all this.

You did very well Leggs. :) I don't think I could have done all that. It was very hot yesterday too. I drive locally, unless it is an emergency.

Now two DD's to care for. Well they can amuse each other, I hope! :) What is the age difference between them? Close?

Have fun. ;)

I tried explaining to the oldest that sleep is my friend and I get very mean when I don't get to see my friends...but she just isn't buying it!

I am STILL tired, and I have PT again tis morning, DD gets out of school early for the rest of the week then school is over... and DH2B is still working 12 hour days 5 days a week and has school on his 2 days off.

So i have a 6 yr old and a 12 yr old.... and 2 dogs, and not a moments peace until school starts again!

Have you considered a summer camp? They go away for 1 to 2 weeks. Most have scholarships, or the local church will pay their tution. It gets them away, and teaches them great stuff, like boating, fishing, crafts, and they make away friends. It was my summer life saver, and both kids looked forward to it every year.

Yeah we are thinking about it for the youngest one, but the older one is only here until the end of july, so I would feel bad sending her away. Youngest ones dad called last night to tell me how he wanted to spend more time with her over the summer, so it might be ok.

And I have signed the oldest one up to volunteer for the fire dept events with me... haven't told her yet, but I figure it will give her something to do, and she can meet other kids her age and get some community service experience under her belt. Plus these guys are my extended family, and it may give her a chance to think about a future career, best friend is the first female fire chief the county has ever had.

I know I miss running rescue squad, and it was probably the job i enjoyed the most.

I knew there was something I liked about you. :p

I worked on many rescue squads in my day. LOVED IT! best job I ever had. Hardest job, but best, hands down. Folks in the biz are family to each other.
