Tachycardia

:eek:Hi friends, I am having a really rough time with tachycardia and an irregular heart rate today. Last week I had an EKG, echo and a 24 hour monitor test but have not received the results yet (appointment tomorrow). The doc had given me a beta blocker to try, but the side effects were to tough to handle and increased my pain a bunch. I am sitting here almost panting and am still having a very uncomfortable chest. Any advise on what to do or what has worked for anyone else would be appreciated. I hope all are having a good night and much thanks, Lisa

Sorry Lisa for your uncomfortable feeling..I have been a heart patient for 20 years..Tachcardia is one of my issues.I also have a leaky value and my heart goes in and out of A Fib..when it wants to..I even had the paddles once..I am on heart med plus a blood thinner.Be sure to track what you are feeling,,your acitivty at the time and when, time..This is helpful for the Dr. to see...They may put you on a regulating drug as myself..I couldn't take, (no surprise there huh)?..beta blockers..I am on tropral now.. was on isoptin prior to that.. I know the signs now when I am not doing well, ie..chest pains and skipping, heavy heart rate... but I don't become alarmed as it is my body doing its thing..this was even before RSD..Good luck with your appt. tomorrow..lets us know how it goes..I scratch my head and wonder how much of the irregular heart rate may be contributed to our little friend.....see what your Dr. thinks..but he'll need to be versed in RSD in orde to shed light on this subject...My cardiologists does know about RSD...he hates it!

Take care...hugs, Kathy

When I had tachycardia I always felt better after I sat down as a chance to catch my breath (and stop the possibility of falling from the dizziness). I seemed to get it when I was upset so I would try to mentally go to my 'happy place'. I would also eat a little something. Soon it would pass.

I have taken Verapamil for about five years and it has helped me immensely. I did go through a lot of trial and error with different drugs before settling on this one.

Good luck to you and let us know how your appointment went.

Thanks for the replies, they helped calm me down somewhat. Only one report was back and it has shown a mitral valve prolapse with regurgitation. Next stop... cardiologist, just what I need, another doctor. Hope everyone is having a low pain night, Lisa
