Hi,
I'm a 59 year old female diagnosed with a colloid cyst in the 3rd ventrical, white matter brain disease, & hydrcephals.
It was september 29th when I went to ER with extreme dizziness & weakness, felt like I was dying. I had been stumbling a falling and had urinary incontenence. I have had audience with one neuologist and tomorrow I see a neurosurgeon. I am having extreme difficulty doing my job as Property Manager of an apartment community. I can't focus, I forgetting all the time, no short term memory, I stutter off & on, and my mood swings are scary and I look at number and say a totally different number. It's humiliating, I feel stupid because the people coming into my office don't know there is a real reason for all the mistakes. Is anyone out there that can relate? I just locked the door to my office & I going to take some FMLA days to try to get a plan of action. I have an appoinment with the social security disability office tomorrow. I also have a long history of depression, anxiety, post trauma syndrom,etc. I'm having a very difficult time holding it together.

this board isnt as active as some of our other boards here, so you may want to also post on say the hydrocephalus and the depression boards and also introduce yourself on our New Memeber forum too....that way more folks will get to know you and some may also share some of the issues you are dealing with and so be able to offer you support

I am sorry you are experiencing the colloid cyst symptoms that you are. I had a colloid cyst removed Nov. 2000. It took me quite a while to get back to my "normal" self.

I usually post at the original BrainTalk site. If you would like, I can post a link for you. There are quite a few people there who have had this cyst and various surgical removals.

I used to read and post once in a while to the old brain talk community board until it went out last year. I have had a difficult time trying to navigate my way around this new site. I remember you as you used to post to the old site quite frequently . I found that site to be quite informative and supportive to the people posting on it There doesn't appear to be as many people at all that are back to this new site regarding colloid cysts Maybe they have had the same difficulties I have had with it or perhaps I'm just not on the right spot yet. To refresh your memory my husband had a colloid cyst removed in Jan of 2001 at the age of 66. He had a stroke afterwards along with a seizure. He was in the hospital for 8 weeks. He also developed a blood clot in his left leg They call it a DVT and he had to have a filter put in. He has had numerous health problems since. Right now he is diagnosed with vascular dementia caused by the brain damage because of the stroke he had following the surgery to remove the cyst. I could elaborate more on some of his problems if you would be interested in hearing them

my son has a colloid cyst
 

I am very interested in learning all I can about Colloid cysts since my son was diagnosed with one at age 3. He is 15 now and has continued to experience depression and other issues because of the ongoing tests ect... If there is anyone out there with a similar situation I would be very greatful to share thoughts on this. Thanks for taking the time to read this.

I am a 54 Male living in Reading england and have been there and got the watch some 20 years ago had a colliod cyst removed and had a perminant shunt fitted had a few visits back to oxford hospital all no problems still get headaches tiredness need more sleep than the average male apart from that try to enjoy life as much as possible only just found this site not quite sure of how it works
