Panic Attacks

I am usually ok and have few Panic Attacks, but not now. They started last night so I hit my xanex bottle hard and finally got some relief. Now here I am again with the attacks starting. I know what is causing them (my kid is out of state on vacation with her father and I miss her...) but, I can't get this mess stopped. I try not to think about it but I guess it is still in the back of my mind.

I just wondered if anyone is using anything herbal for attacks. I can't keep hitting xanex so hard. Forget the fact it is not good for me; I'll run out too soon. I'm on Prozac too, but new to it and it has not had time to get in my system good.

Ideas please

If you just started on Prozac, that could be why your panic attacks have started up. The same thing happened to me.

Prozac has an upper like effect, at first. That's one of the reasons they use it a lot for peeps with MS..helps with the fatigue. But for peeps with anxiety, it's not so good. :p

My Neuro took me off of Prozac and put me on Buspar then Paxil. I am on Prozac now and love it but, it didn't work with panic attacks.

There are all sorts of "rescue remedies" for panic attacks. you can go to Evitamin.com or any of the other many places, but be careful as things like St. Johns Wart is the same as prozac and you dont want to over do on it.

I hope you find ways to distract yourself and get busy while your child is away. knit, cook, clean, read, watch a movie, call a friend, write a letter, start a book, go visiting, and so on.

I hope you feel better quick.

Hello Pink.

Knowing what is causing the panic attacks certainly doesn't make it any easier, does it :( Do you have a therapist? A therapist can help get you through this difficult time.

I have been using Sam-e for about a month with good results. Anxiety is listed as one of the few side effects so I was very leary about trying it. Well, it appears to have decreased my anxiety/panic attacks and in general I feel calmer. Like you, I knew the reason for the increase of anxiety/panic attacks.

I just want to thank all of you for your repalys. I had typed out a short reply to each , but my computer would not let me back in the forum and all lost. I type poor and it takes a long time so not risking again.

I'm going to bed with my kids puppy and hoping for the best. So far no more attacks today. Tysabri infusion tomorrow and a round trip of 4 plus hours - I probably will not be on.

Thank you all for your help. Love and my best to all!!

 Pink

Just wanted to say I think my panic deal is over. Nothing last night and I've been up since 12 (could not go back to sleep), so I've had tons of time to freak out. I guess my brain is getting use to this vacation deal. I sure hope so, but I still hate it.

Snoopy - you are so right. I need a therapist. I think I'll look into what mental coverage I have. Kinda hard alone trying to deal with this ms mess and make all decisions on my on.

Thanks again everyone for being here!
